Indianapolis Colts safety LaRon Landryย has beenย suspended four games forย violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network reported the news Monday:

Landry had started the team's first four games of 2014, tallying 23 tackles and a sack. The 29-year-old veteran also played in 12 games for the Colts in 2013.

The Washington Redskins drafted the former LSU star sixth overall back in 2007. He played five seasons with the squad before spending one year with the New York Jets, which led to his only Pro Bowl appearance in 2012.

Before the 2013 season, Landry signed a four-year deal with Indianapolis worth up to $24 million. Over the past year, he has helped a young secondary improve as the Colts continue to move toward contention.

Unfortunately, he will now be on the sidelines for the next month after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Then again, not everyone was surprised by the news.ย

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller shared his reaction:

Pro Football Talk noted that many likely expected this suspension sooner or later:

On the other hand, Jane McManus of ESPN New York was disappointed by the lack of those surprised about the incident:

Either way, the Colts will have to move on without him for the next month. Sergio Brown and Colt Anderson are options for increased playing time in Landry's absence, although the duo has combined for just four tackles this season.

With important AFC games coming up against the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers in the next four weeks, Landry's absence could end up being a major problem for Indianapolis.
