Angry Fantasy Owners Mistake Broncos LB for Chicago's Brandon Marshall

At its best, Twitter is the bleeding edge of newsโ€”a place where you can find raw information on world events hours before it's broadcast on television.

More often, however, Twitter is a peanut gallery where anonymous individuals lob rotting cabbage and poorly informed sentences at one another to pass the angry interlude between their birth and death.ย

The worst part is, sometimes those anonymous hecklers donโ€™t even aim their ugliness at the correct person.

For example, take Monday nightโ€™s game between the Chicago Bears and New York Jets, where a number of Bears fans and fantasy football nerds went out of their way to torment Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall in the mistaken belief that it was Chicagoโ€™s Brandon Marshall.

Mixing up Denver Marshallโ€™s Twitter for Chicago Marshallโ€™s, fans excoriated the Broncos linebacker for not playing on the bum ankle he didnโ€™t have in the game he wasnโ€™t playing. Fantasy owners wanted their points and went out of their minds on the linebacker when wide receiver Marshall left the field with a right ankle injury.

Some intrepid thinkers even began to wonder how Marshall was managing to tweet during the game.

Here is a side-by-side of the two Brandon Marshallsย so we can clear this up once and for all.ย

Now that weโ€™ve made this distinction abundantly clear, hopefully Broncos Brandon Marshall will enjoy a bit of serenity when he chooses to watch his next Chicago Bears game.

Or people will continue confusing the two as long as selfishness and knee-jerk reactions reign over social media. Either could happen.
