Dion Jordan Suspended 4 Games: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Joseph ZuckerSep 19, 2014

Shortly after getting his initial four-game suspension reduced, Dion Jordan is headed right back to the inactive list after running afoul of the NFL's drug policy.

Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel provided a concise timeline of events surrounding Jordan:

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported that Jordan is already in a drug-treatment facility:

Jordan released a statement (via Perkins):

"

I am currently undergoing treatment to address my situation. I am working hard to become a better man and to make better choices in the future. I am especially looking forward to returning to the team. I also want to thank my family, coach (Joe) Philbin and the Miami Dolphins organization for their support.

"

In July, the Miami Dolphins announced that Jordan would serve a four-game ban after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. According to Perkins, that suspension was lifted after two games and coincided with the second-year pass-rusher picking up his second suspension of the season.

The Dolphins moved up in the draft to select Jordan third overall in 2013. Since then he's been unimpressive, picking up just two sacks last year and now failing to see the field through what will be the first six games of 2014.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller is one of many whose opinion of Jordan has steadily declined since draft day:

Only 24 years old, Jordan still has plenty of time to overcome the ignominious start to his NFL career. He still boasts loads of potential, and after getting the help he needs, he may be able to work through whatever issues with which he's currently dealing.

The Dolphins welcome in the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend and are coming off a 29-10 loss at the hands of the Buffalo Bills.
