Lache Seastrunk to Panthers: Latest Contract Details, Analysis and Reaction
The Carolina Panthers are in need of more depth at the running back position. They might have filled that need on Tuesday by signing Lache Seastrunk to the practice squad.
Seastrunk's signing was reported by the Panthers' official Twitter account:
"#Panthers have signed rookie RB Lache Seastrunk to the practice squad. Redskins' 6th-round pick led Big 12 in rushing last season at Baylor.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The former Baylor back ran for over 1,000 yards in both 2012 and 2013, compiling a total of 18 rushing touchdowns during that stretch. Though he didn't stick with the Washington Redskins after being selected in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft, he is a talented back with potential.
Zac Boyer of The Washington Times notes just how long it took for Seastrunk to find a new home in the NFL:
As for the talent aspect, Rand Getlin of Yahoo and Around the NFL share their thoughts:
Seastrunk's ability was evident for the Redskins in the preseason, but he was unable to beat out the likes of Silas Redd for the final spot. Already having Alfred Morris and Roy Helu, Washington had the luxury of depth at the position.
Redskins coach Jay Gruden spoke about Seastrunk following his cut, per Brian McNally of CBS DC:
"It’s not over for Lache. I’m sure somebody will get a look at him and it could be us later on. But we’ll see. We felt like we went with the three running backs who did the best and we only picked three for a number of reasons. ...
He had his big-play abilities and he’s a good running back. He’s a young kid with a lot of talent, obviously, but we just felt to go in a different direction at this time.
"
Moving forward, Seastrunk might have a shot to play a role with the Panthers. Both DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert are recovering from injuries, per Max Henson of the team's official site, and injury-prone Jonathan Stewart was only able to muster 37 rushing yards on 15 carries against the Detroit Lions in Week 2.
The 62 rushing yards against Detroit was the team's fewest since Week 10 of the 2012 season, per David Newton of ESPN.com, so it's clear the franchise needs help in the rushing game. Thanks to the addition of Seastrunk, that help might be on the way soon if he makes an impact on the practice squad.
