ESPN.com's Adam Teicher has Smith's thoughts on the injury:
Kissel noted how backup quarterback Chase Daniel, who will replace Smith on Sunday, did in his previous start:
Daniel spent three seasons behind Drew Brees in New Orleans before joining the Chiefs last year. He's shown glimpses of promise during limited regular-season reps. In 2013, he completed 25 of his 38 passing attempts for 248 yards, one touchdown and one interception, earning a passer rating of 81.9 in five appearances.
The Chiefs are still in the playoff hunt heading into Week 17, needing a win over the San Diego Chargers, a Baltimore Ravens loss and a Houston Texans loss or tie to clinch a postseason spot.
Many fans will be sure to monitor this situation closely, as the Chiefs' season hangs in the balance.
