Johnny Manziel was once thought to be a candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, and it looked like a virtual lock that he would at least be the first quarterback off the board.

However, things haven't gone as expected for the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner.

Many wondered if Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys would take the former Texas A&M star if he was somehow still available when the team picked at No. 16. Manziel was indeed still on the board at No. 16, but the Cowboys went in a different direction.

After the Cowboys passed on the quarterback, even the NFL's official Twitter account mocked him:

Manziel's unexpected slide has led to the birth of #BeforeManzielGetsDrafted:

Manti Teo will find his girlfriend #BeforeManzielGetsDrafted

Unfortunately for Manziel, he now joins Brady Quinn, Aaron Rodgers and Geno Smith as quarterbacks who have fallen far on draft day.
