Positives

• A tough runner after the catch—basically becomes a running back with the ball in his hands. 
• Well-built and strong for an undersized receiver, which should help with his durability, although that hasn't been the case thus far in his career. 
• Has the speed to break away once he gets to the open field.
• Impressive leaping ability gives him some potential to help make up for his lack of size in certain situations. 
• Quick acceleration off the line of scrimmage. 
• Will occasionally make a defender miss in the open field and create big plays for himself. 
• Does a great job working against the zone—shows elite awareness on the field and knows how to quickly position himself in an area and show himself to the quarterback. 
• Became a go-to target for quarterbacks when the play broke down due to his ability to adjust and work his way back to the QB in an open zone.
• Gives a strong effort as a blocker and will occasionally hold his ground against bigger defenders due to his use of leverage. 
• Has experience returning punts, and also returned kicks early in his career. 

Negatives

• Vastly undersized and will struggle to make an impact down the field.
• Really struggles when asked to make contested catches and has limited experience in those situations. 
• Limited route-running experience—used almost exclusive on screens and other short routes.
• Hands are shaky and had some really bad drops on screens that simply bounced off his hands. 
• Lets the ball into his chest too often; tends to try to catch and secure the ball in one motion and often gets ahead of himself, which leads to bobbles and drops. 
• Impressive acceleration but doesn't have a second gear to be a true deep threat. 
• Most of his production down the field came against zone coverage.
• Struggles to keep his balance when pressed and is easily thrown off his route by physical corners. 
• Can make one guy miss, but doesn't have the elite quickness to weave through traffic and create something from nothing.
• Serious injury risk. Missed end of senior year with a shoulder injury. Missed two games with a broken hand in 2012 and also suffered an ankle injury that required offseason surgery.

Overall

Campanaro is essentially a running back who lines up out wide. His timed speed looks good, but he doesn't really have the quickness for it to translate to the field. As a result, his future will be as a possession receiver in the slot. His long list of injuries is sure to cause teams to put a red flag on his scouting report, and he may need to prove himself on special teams in order to win a job in training camp.
