• Smart linebacker who reads keys well and can react quickly. 
• Quick, nimble feet in short areas. 
• Terrific long speed to chase down plays in the open field.

• Comfortable in a back pedal to get depth in zone coverage.

• Not an overly dominant or stand-out type player at the FCS level. 
• On the small side in terms of both weight and length. 
• Not an overly fluid mover, tight in the hips. 
• Tightness limits versatility and ability to limit separation throughout routes in coverage. 
• Limited in terms of functional strength and doesn’t translate as a traditional box linebacker well. 
• Not an overly physical defender. 
• Doesn’t always extend hands to keep blockers off his frame and has short arms if he does. 
• Gets mentally hung up when taking on blockers, will lose eye contact with the football. 
• Inconsistent to poor technique as a tackler. 
• Doesn’t keep head up and drive to generate power, need to drag down backs instead of driving to limit yards after contact.

Overall

Jordan Tripp came into the draft picture during his senior season and may have locked himself into a “draftable” designation with a successful Senior Bowl week. His leadership, mentality and intensity were all eye-catching characteristics in Mobile, Ala.

Unfortunately, the lack of size and strength may hold back Tripp. His combine measurements all came in at impressive numbers, which may indicate a team will give him an opportunity to win a job at linebacker. He translates as a depth linebacker in a base 4-3 with special teams value.
