  • Consistently fires hands into contact coming off the ball.
  • Can control multiple gaps by stacking blocks at the line of scrimmage and playing off with violent hands.

  • Quick to follow pulls and disrupt the backfield before cutoff blocks reach him, quick reactions.
  • Closes with fine acceleration after working off blocks.
  • Carries his weight and pursues well enough despite a lack of gaudy statistics.
  • Played from a variety of alignments all over the defensive line at Alabama.

  • Inconsistent showings from game to game.
  • Lacks optimal height and length for a 3-4 end.

  • Tends to come off the ball with high pads into first contact.
  • Doesn’t generate power from lower half to press the pocket with power.
  • Needs to play with better balance on contact at the line of scrimmage, will stop his feet at times.
  • Exposes his chest on attempted swim moves and can be knocked back by punches from blockers.
  • Lacks range working laterally down the line of scrimmage.
  • Produces little disruption in the backfield.
  • Struggles to anticipate and play off cut blocks with his hands.
  • Only started a single season for the Crimson Tide.
  • Has schematic limitations due to a lack of high-level athleticism or explosiveness.

Jeoffrey Pagan is an end prospect tailor-made for an odd front.  He will have his place as an NFL player, especially defending the run.  His effectiveness against spread offenses paled in comparison to that of heavier offensive sets.

Pagan should be looked at as a fit to play 5-technique but not the type of player who will make a high number of plays in the backfield or bring much as a pass-rusher.  The good thing is that Pagan should be a better pro than he was a collegiate player.
