Pick the winners of both the AFC and NFC title games correctly, win more than $5,000 in free furniture. Sounds simple enough.

Don't worry; it was.

Mattress Mack was at it again for the Super Bowl, and this time he came away down $7 million. Thanks to the Seahawks victory in Super Bowl XLVIII, customers who bought over $6,000 will get all their money refunded:

Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, owner of Gallery Furniture in Houston, came up with a promotion to bring in more business, via's Tiffany Craig:

Customers who bought more than $5,000 in furniture, had it delivered before the start of the first game and correctly guessed the two teams to advance to Super Bowl XLVIII would wind up getting a full refund on their purchase.

Not a bad deal—for the customers.

The Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos, who were both favored, won their respective conference title games against the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots.

How many customers wound up with free furniture? More than 100 customers, or 80 percent, made the right picks. The promotion ended up costing the company $600,000 in free furniture.

It was a risky promotion considering that both No. 1 seeds were still remaining, especially since the Seattle Seahawks had lost only one home game since the beginning of the 2013 season. Those who don't follow the NFL could've just picked the home teams and won.

Even after having to eat the cost of a $600,000 bill, Mattress Mack may be willing to do a similar promotion for the Super Bowl.

"We're thinking about doing it for the big game but haven't decided yet," said Mattress Mack.
