Patriots' Rob Gronkowski to Play Himself in New 'Entourage' Movie

Rob Gronkowski will be in the upcoming Entourage movie, because sometimes the world decides to make perfect sense, and a movie featuring a bunch of dudes playing bros locks up its perfect cameo. 

UPDATE: Friday, Dec. 13 at 1:15 p.m. ET 

Because we know you were worried sick, we have to bring you word that despite his knee injury Rob Gronkowski will still play himself in the upcoming Entourage movie. 

TMZ reports the Patriots tight end is still scheduled to shoot his parts in February and is very much excited to do so.

TMZ reports the professional party boy, who spends his downtime playing tight end for the New England Patriots, is about to venture into the land of movies:

We got word from Gronkowski's theatrical manager Henry Penzi ... the NE Patriots' stud is going to be hugging it out with Jeremy Piven, Adrian Grenier and the rest of the boys from "Entourage" in their upcoming feature film.

"

There is almost too much awesome at work here. Of course a show about a fake movie star had to end with its characters becoming actual stars in a Hollywood movie. If this were any more meta, it would play for the Knicks and give awkward postgame interviews. 

The report states the movie is to be directed by series creator Doug Ellin (imdb.com) and will begin shooting in January. Now the Patriots can just jump off that "we might be preparing for obvious playoff games" bridge when they get to it. 

Gronkowski won't have to traverse the creativity spectrum too far, because he is playing himself. So we assume he will show up on the set fully loaded wearing Zubaz pants, a tank top and those funny hats that dispense beer. 

Remember, there was another big athlete who starred in the series (NSFW language).

Good luck trying to beat that amazing and heavily-nuanced performance given by the one and only LeBron James.

So far, details are scant regarding the upcoming movie featuring everyone's favorite cast of faux Hollywood stars. The IMDB page merely describes the movie as, "Film star Vince Chase and his cronies take on Hollywood," which sounds like the TV description for each episode. 

Now if Gronk doesn't grab you—please tell us he isn't grabbing people now—perhaps you will enjoy the other star rumored to have a role in the movie: Kate Upton. 

The Wrap recently reported the Sports Illustrated model may be up for the female lead, so things are going rather swimmingly for producers it seems. 

As for Gronk, he enjoyed his bye week by giving crucial football instruction at his inaugural Football 101 Women's Clinic. There was dancing, Gronktinis and even a nice definition of the term "tight end."

Now he will play a part in the new Entourage movie. Though, he has been living the movie Entourage for quite some time now.
