Erin Andrews has a fever, and the only prescription is more Bieber.
That’s what it sounded like to many viewers who stuck around for her postgame interview after Game 3 of the ALCS on Tuesday night.
The Fox Sports reporter was interviewing open-shirted wonder Mike Napoli about his seventh-inning home run off of Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander when the slip-up occurred.
Video of Andrews' Bieber fever was picked up by Joe Kinsey of Busted Coverage (h/t @mjoven1975), and it certainly sounded like someone had been listening to some “Baby” on the ride to the ballpark.
“I’m here with Mike Napoli,” Andrews said. “Now, your last home run against Justin Bie—uh—Verlander.”
Hmmm. Was she about to mix Justin Verlander up with a 19-year-old pop star? That’s what it sounded like to a lot of people.

Erin Andrews literally almost called Justin Verlander 'Justin Bieber' in her post game interview.— Joey Glauber (@JoeyGlauber) October 15, 2013
Her near-“Belieber” moment was heard by enough people that Andrews felt the need to clarify the situation and took to Twitter to “admit” she had Bieber on her mind.
If u really think I have Bieber on my mind, then u are soooooo right #sarcasm— Erin Andrews (@ErinAndrews) October 16, 2013
So what’s the verdict here? Some people heard Andrews saying “Be,” while others heard “Vee.”
Either way, live gigs can be rough—even for veterans like Andrews. Does she deserve a mulligan? Probably.
Sometimes things don't always go according to plan. Things go sideways, lines get crossed and you accidentally call your girlfriend “mom.”
The point is, sometimes things get weird—but you pick yourself up by the shreds of your remaining dignity and you move on.
Or you get on Twitter and talk about it, ultimately making it worse.
