Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars Scrap on Twitter Ahead of Weekend Clash

Gabe ZaldivarOct 7, 2013

The Jacksonville Jaguars still have nearly a week to prepare for the Denver Broncos, but they are already getting clowned by their opponents on Twitter.

On Sunday, the Broncos did what they are doing best in 2013: put up a boatload of points and grab a win. In case you missed it, Denver beat the Dallas Cowboys in a 51-48 thriller.

The Jaguars are next on the schedule. So like a bully proclaiming his next victim on the schoolyard, the Broncos Twitter feed dished out a friendly little noogie in the form of this tweet:

Rendered helpless by yet another loss this season, a 34-20 defeat by the St. Louis Rams, the Jags did what anyone in their predicament might do: They referenced Anchorman.

The Broncos took all of four minutes to answer back:

The Jaguars offered no resistance to that barb, electing to retire with the hope that social media spheres forget about them for the rest of the week.

There is one other remarkable news of note. The upcoming clash between the Jaguars and Broncos has quite the gnarly spread at the moment.

ESPN reports the minus-28 spread between the two teams ties the largest in NFL history. The report cites The Gold Sheet that states Sunday's spread is the biggest since the one that accompanied the Baltimore Colts over the then-expansion Atlanta Falcons way back in 1966.

For those wondering, the lowly Falcons covered, so there is hope yet for the Jaguars to save face against a dynamic offense in Denver.

And because the Broncos seem to be the best show in the league at the moment, it makes sense that every fan, analyst and athlete would be keyed in on their games.

As it so happens, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy tried to get in on the Twitter beef when he posted this about the Broncos' Knowshon Moreno in response to some blather Skip Bayless was spewing.

Moreno then answered with this tweet at the same time we presume he was dusting his shoulders off.

As it were, you can't touch the Broncos on the field nor on the Internet. They are winning anywhere you want to engage them.

Troll them at your own peril.
