Did a Cleveland Indians Fan Throw Dip Spit at Tampa Bay Rays' David DeJesus?
Mmmm...nothing like the smell of hot tobacco spit in the evening, right Cleveland?
There are certain things you don’t do at the ballpark, and hurling a Big Gulp full of tobacco gravy is one of them.
One Cleveland Indians fan at Progressive Field had apparently never heard that rule and decided to sling what appeared to be a makeshift spittoon at Tampa Bay Rays outfielder David DeJesus in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Fortunately for DeJesus, the cup-thrower missed.
What’s that? Some of you don’t think it’s a dip cup? You could be right. The initial reaction of those who saw the cup hit the field was to naturally assume it was a beer.

No one’s knee-jerk reaction over a thrown drink at a ballgame is to assume “dip!” However, upon closer inspection, you can see that beer does not fall like this.

Despite this nastiness, it could’ve been a lot worse for DeJesus. The fan could’ve thrown a more traditional tobacco reservoir.

Tampa Bay went on to win the game 4-0, eliminating Cleveland from the postseason. The Rays will be facing the Red Sox in Boston on Friday.
Fun times in Cleveland today!
