Every time Cam Newton gives an interview, a kitten dies.
At least, that's how I feel whenever I see one of these "Cam Newton said..." stories on the Internet, and by the time I get to the ellipsis, I'm already nauseous. Remember when he asked for a suggestion box last fall? Yeah, Cam is almost performing a Joaquin Phoenix-esque seminar on how not to inspire leadership.
It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
Well, the Auburn product is at it again, this time talking about how he, as an Atlanta-area native, still hasn't abandoned his childhood love for the Atlanta Falcons. This could have been a heartwarming tale, save for the fact that the Falcons are division rivals with the team that decided to pay Newton $22 million out of college.
Colin Kaepernick is in the same boat with Newton, as the Niners quarterback was caught on Instagram with a Miami Dolphins cap. Kaepernick was unapologetic, unlike San Diego wide receiver Keenan Allen, who quickly backpedaled after Chargers fans gave him an earful after being photographed in an Oakland Raiders cap.
What could possibly be inspiring these guys to be showing love for other NFL teams? Join me as I don my thinking cap in this week's episode of "Let Me Get This Straight." Check out my thoughts on the matter in the video above and leave your own thoughts in the comments below.
As always, thanks for watching.
