Padres Fan Dives Into Bush for Jason Heyward's Home Run, Fails Horribly
One San Diego Padres fan brought a new meaning to the term "bush league."
MLB.com brings us a wonderful video that really serves as a reminder that it's always better to let other people scramble for foul balls and home runs.
However, if you do decide to run after that latest blast into the stands from a big league star, refrain from diving into the bushes, because nobody wins in that case.
Let's break down how astoundingly horrible this attempt for a free baseball truly was. Here is a GIF (via B/R) that clearly shows the ball hitting the lower portion of the bush and bouncing out the bottom. (GIF via B/R)
Unfortunately, this fan has both the greatest need for that ball and the worst aim, both forces colliding for what has to be the most useless dive in sports history.
If you don't believe me, check out this image of the end result. (B/R)
Yes, the fan who would make for an awful Superman comes away empty-handed. The most shocking part, of which there are many, is he almost looks stunned that his ploy didn't work.
It's the same look once given by Jose Canseco or Manny Ramirez after a botched play. Well, that didn't go as planned.
Of course, the big issue here is a grown man in an all-out sprint for a baseball he could buy for a few bucks. Then he could just say it was off of Jason Heyward's bat.
Don't worry, nobody would question you, and you wouldn't have to pick out branches from your sweater or pick up pieces of your shattered ego.
