Baltimore Ravens Star Ray Rice Had Home Burglarized Over Weekend

Baltimore Ravens star running back Ray Rice had his home burglarized over the weekend, per reports from TMZ and USA Today

According to the reports, the burglary took place at some point between Friday morning and late Saturday night at his Maryland home in Reisterstown, a suburb of Baltimore.

The burglar, who apparently broke in through a rear window and proceeded to tear up the house, ultimately left with a reported $2,000 in cash and two guns. At this time, there is no mention of anything else that was taken.

Baltimore County police spokeswoman Cathleen Batton spoke with reporters and divulged that there is surveillance video of the burglar, but there is no word as to how clear or useful the footage might be.

As for Rice, he offered the following comments for his fans:

"My family and I are fine, which is the most important thing. This is an unfortunate incident that I am dealing with through the proper channels."

As reported, Rice was out of town this past weekend. The only other information given was that a friend had been staying at the location over that duration.

An otherwise remarkable year now features an unfortunate incident for the three-time Pro Bowler. Rice, who rushed for 1,143 yards and nine touchdowns in 2012, was a key member of this past season's Super Bowl-winning Ravens squad.

We have to agree with Rice's sentiment that the items taken can be replaced; the important part is that he and his family are safe and out of harm's way.
