NFL Draft Needs: Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins have had a tough time this season.  But the problem hasn't been the inability to string together some decent wins (Well, that was an effect of the big problem) but they had a hard time getting 1 win.

They finally found a team in the Baltimore Ravens that was even harder on its luck (Which is hard to do when you are well into the season and without a win) and they pulled off an overtime thriller. (It was a thriller...right?)

They had some trouble with offense, defense, special teams, ownership, fans, the hot dog stand, anything else that touched the Miami Dolphins instantly turned to ash.

So who do you draft when you need to fill almost every position on your roster and the best player in the draft plays at the only position where you have a good player?

Well, I am going to break down the needs of this team and get through the top 10 drafting teams in 10 articles without making an official pick.

Possible Draft Directions

Last year their quarterback play, well, awful (I couldn't think of a word worse than that).  But they signed Josh McCown so they might not be looking to fill quarterback with this pick. (Then again, I'm not exactly sure that McCown is the person to make that statement with)

They could go for DT Glenn Dorsey, but questions linger about his health, and they already have 6 DT's on their official roster, adding another to the mix would make the job even tougher for that coaching staff.

They could take the Chris Long route so that they can have another explosive player coming off the edge opposite Jason Taylor.  This seems the most practical route and helping the defense is important.

They definitely need a wide receiver, but with the best player being DeSean Jackson, I don't think that they would grab him, especially after the Ted Ginn debacle of last season, but look for some draft help at that position a little later.

Their offensive line needs a ton of help, but I'm also not sure that any player deserves to go that high that plays on the offensive line.  But the 2nd and 3rd round would be good times to look at some help in the trenches.

Their defensive backfield was, well, just what you would expect from the Miami Dolphins.  Again, nobody that plays that position warrants the 1st overall pick.

The most interesting position with #1 overall pick is RB.  They already have Ronnie Brown, who is the best player on the offense.  But they could take Darren McFadden, who is drawing comparisons to Adrian "All Day" Peterson.

So the Dolphins have a tough call to make this season, should they take the possible trade that the Cowboys could want to make.  That would give them more picks, which could be exactly what this team needs.
