Yahoo! Sports spotted this moment when one NFL player was serenaded by a group of his fellow students. Yes, that is a sentence that only really makes sense in the crazy world Cam Newton resides.
The report reminds us Newton is back on the Auburn campus this semester, working his way to a degree. As for this video, it's something of a Valentine's Day greeting.
On Valentine’s Day, the Wesley Foundation singers, a campus group that raises money for mission trips by singing valentine’s greetings to unsuspecting students in class, sang “My Guy” to Newton courtesy of Auburn sorority girl Rachel Gilmore.
Before we continue, I have to ask: Is the dude wearing Beats by Dre in class? I would love to hear this discussion that had to have taken place once.
Professor: Mr. Newton, will you please remove your headphones when you are in class?
Cam Newton: No.
Let's get back to the invite from fellow student, Gilmore, one that included her number and the message, "PHI MU CARNATION BALL?"
Well, it seems she was asking the Panthers quarterback to the Phi Mu Carnation Ball, a dance that takes place only once every 4 years.
So far, Newton has not yet called.
Not that Gilmore is taking this all that seriously. The Auburn student stated, "I mean, at first it was a joke, but if he did it, if he came, it’d be cool. I wasn’t expecting this at all, but obviously I’d freak out. He hasn’t called yet, but it (the Carnation Ball) isn’t until April. So he still has time."
Earlier, we reported on Johnny Manziel taking online classes only this semester. It's a decision he made to get away from the fame and hype that follows him onto campus.
We now know what he means.
Twitter is where it all goes down. Well, most of it anyway.
