Super Bowl Locations: List of Future Super Bowl Sites

Bring your parka to the Super Bowl next year because it is going to be cold. The Super Bowl breaks from tradition in 2014 as it heads to a cold-weather city in an outdoor stadium. 

Things will get a little warmer for America's favorite game in the proceeding years. 

The host site for the Super Bowl is only determined through 2015, but the finalists have been determined through 2017. We'll review all four of those years in the following slides. 

2014 Super Bowl: East Rutherford, N.J.

Date: Feb. 2, 2014

The Giants and Jets will be showcasing their home stadium, which opened in 2010.

Of course, this site has drawn plenty of attention. For starters, it's the Big Apple, and anything that goes on there is going to get extra attention, but we also have the weather. 

We've grown accustomed to seeing the Super Bowl be played beyond the reach of Mother Nature, but it would be a shock if the elements didn't come into play in some shape or form. 

2015 Super Bowl: Glendale, Ariz.

Date: Feb. 1, 2015

Back to the desert for the 2015 Super Bowl. The big game will be held at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

It was last at this site in 2008. You remember that one—I know David Tyree does.  

We can only hope this Super Bowl will be as entertaining as that one. 

2016 Super Bowl: TBD

This will be the 50th Super Bowl. To commemorate the honor, the NFL will decided on the host city between the familiar South Florida location and the new 49ers stadium, which is currently being built in Santa Clara.

Bay Area (49ers' new stadium to be opened in Santa Clara set to be opened in 2014)

As you can see here, the new stadium in Santa Clara does not have a roof. So this Super Bowl very well could be touched by the elements. Remember, this isn't Southern California we are talking about. 

Given that, my money is on Sun Life Stadium getting this nod. 

2017 Super Bowl: TBD

For the 51st Super Bowl, Houston will throw its hat into the ring against the site that loses out on the previous year's Super Bowl.

Loser of 2016 bid (Miami area or Bay Area)

Houston (Reliant Stadium)

I've got to believe that the losing site for the 2016 Super Bowl will have an advantage. However, we get back to the weather concerns for San Francisco. 

Also, Reliant Stadium is going all out to win this bid—plans are in the works to add the largest video screen in any stadium.
