More on Allen's Remarkable Journey
Allen is a legend at the University of Southern California, where he left an indelible mark as a junior and senior, rushing for 3,905 yards and 36 touchdowns in his final two years. He rushed for an incredible 2,427 yards as a senior in 1981—the third-highest total in the history of the NCAA.
Allen then was drafted in the first round of the 1982 NFL draft (10th overall) by the Raiders, where he spent the bulk of his career before leaving in 1993 to play for the Kansas City Chiefs.
He finished his NFL career with 12,243 yards rushing (No. 12 in NFL history) and 123 rushing touchdowns (No. 3 in NFL history) while catching 587 passes for 5,411 yards and 21 receiving touchdowns.
He saved his best for his biggest game, in Super Bowl XVIII, when he rushed for 191 yards, caught two passes for 18 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Allen was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003, and he currently is an NFL analyst for CBS.
Make sure you catch his entire story on NFL Network on Wednesday, December 12.
