Donald Jones, Buffalo Bills WR (right)
Of course, getting ahead of the curve and snatching Jones as a free-agent pickup is a whole lot easier than hoping that you can get him off waivers. Jones is available in over 97 percent of ESPN.com fantasy leagues.
So is Alexander.
Jones is the second-most targeted player (51 targets) on the Buffalo Bills behind No. 1 receiver Steve Johnson. His targets have increased in each of the last three weeks: four at Arizona in Week 6, five against the Tennessee Titans in Week 7, nine at Houston in Week 9 and 10 at New England last week.
His receptions and yards, in turn, have been trending upward as well. After totaling five receptions from Week 4 to Week 6, Jones caught four balls for 47 yards in Week 7 and six in each of the two games since the Bills’ Week 8 bye.
Jones has two touchdowns in his last three games and his Week 11 opponent, the Miami Dolphins, have surrendered four scores to wide receivers in their last three. Against the New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans, the Dolphins have combined to give up 44 receptions, 577 yards and four TDs.
Miami hasn’t provided much resistance to fantasy wideouts on the road this season, either. In its last four road games, Miami has surrendered an average of 19.5 catches, 224.3 yards and 1.75 scores per game to opposing wide receiving corps.
The motivated Jones is a solid sleeper for Week 11 with four teams on a bye. The way his numbers are trending, he could provide nice fantasy roster insurance down the stretch as well.
