Christian Ponder Hilariously Gives Samantha Steele Credit for Vikings Win

The Minnesota Vikings' quarterback has come under fire for his relationship with Samantha Steele, but made sure to dish out some jokes of his own.

The Star Tribune reports Christian Ponder was well aware people were calling out his relationship with the ESPN personality for his struggles this season.

According to him, you better give her all the credit in the world when things are going right.

"I want to thank my girlfriend. Because she obviously has such a big impact on how I play. Which allowed me to win. So thank you," Ponder said.

Good one, Christian Ponder.

The 24-year-old quarterback has been inconsistent this year, which is to be expected of a second-year arm with the full weight of the franchise on his back.

Coming off a horrible outing against Seattle, wherein he tossed 11-of-22 for just 63 yards, he was called out for being far too distracted by his budding romance.

I guess not.

This past weekend, Ponder went 24-of-32 and passed for 221 yards and two touchdowns on the Vikings' way to a 34-24 win over the Lions.

So if his relationship with Steele was an obvious detriment to some, it has to be the reason for his success. Right?

Or, as a sarcastic Ponder would have you believe, relationships matter little when you get on the field, have thousands shouting at you and instinct kicks in.

As Ponder is in just his second year of what looks to be a promising career, it's nice to know he is always good for a laugh.
