Week 9 is the exact middle point of the NFL season. During this week, you should determine whether you need to walk away or double down on the remainder of the games.

Or you could just not care.

The point spreads add a little fun to the weekly picks. Why would we want to get rid of that extra spice?

Exactly.

Overreaction Line of the Week: Carolina Panthers vs. Washington Redskins (-3.5)

The Carolina Panthers finally rose up and played well against a team. Well, that's an overstatement.

Killer Cam Newton did throw for 314 yards, but he didn't throw for a single touchdown and turned it over twice.

Plus, once the Chicago Bears decided to show up, they eviscerated the Panthers defense.

And the Washington Redskins ran into a team that is finding its stride. So losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers doesn't mean the Skins are horrendous.

Basically, this line needs to be bigger.

Sure-to-Move Line of the Week: Baltimore Ravens (-4) vs. Cleveland Browns

The public is not going to love the Cleveland Browns just because they beat the San Diego Chargers by one point at home.

The public is also not going to totally give up on the Baltimore Ravens. The homicide committed by the Houston Texans has gone cold and people will only see Baltimore's 5-2 record.

Four points is not going to be enough to scare newbs off. Neither will five.

Stay-Away Game of the Week: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Oakland Raiders (-1)

My first instinct is to jump all over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They just got done administering a beatdown to the third degree against the Minnesota Vikings.

However, I'm scared of the Oakland Raiders and their black hole. Weird stuff happens when the Raiders are around.

They're not a good team. They barely beat the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But I just don't feel good about putting money on this game.

Intriguing Money Line: Kansas City Chiefs (+9) vs. San Diego Chargers

To be fair, I can't find any other money lines on my regular sites.

But I somewhat like this line too. That's a whole lot of extra money just for a Kansas City Chiefs win over a drowning San Diego Chargers team.

No, the Chiefs aren't that good. But neither are the Chargers.

And again, that's a lot of extra cash.
