CC Sabathia is one of the players the New York Yankees will rely upon most now that they are back in the big dance. In turn, the southpaw relies heavily on the support of his loving wife, Amber Sabathia.
The Yankees ace will pitch in under 30 games for the first time since 2006, a remarkable mark of consistency for one of the more stout pitchers in the game.
While he was banged up a bit in 2012, he will finish with around a 3.39 ERA and 14 wins, making him key to the Bronx Bombers' success in the next few weeks.
There is an unheralded hero behind the scenes in Sabathia's lovely wife Amber.
According to a report from Bergen.com, while Sabathia is out pitching for the Yankees, Amber is back at home running the PitCCh In Foundation, a charitable organization the two started to help inner-city kids in their home state of California as well as in the tri-state area.
According to Parents.com, the couple share four children: Carsten, also known as Lil' C, 8; Jaden, 6; Cyia, 3, and Carter, 1.
Despite having a father who is such a visible asset to the most famous franchise in baseball, the family is more normal than you would expect.
Parents.com had this report on the two parents keeping things as regular as they can back at home.
During the season, Sabathia makes sure to FaceTime and Skype with his children. As for a score on her husband, Amber had this to say:
"If it were a score of 1 to 10...he would have to be an 11. He's an amazing husband, father, and friend. CC is very loving and it shows as he fathers. His kids definitely give him the number-one dad crown!"
The lefty will try to carry a great deal of the load for the Yankees this October. When you consider the job he is doing in the more important part of his life, a giant round of applause may be in order.
