I previously wrote an article on the top five players I believe the Detroit Lions should target in free agency. This is an article on who the Lions should target in the draft. In my mock draft, I had the the Lions selecting Andre Smith with the first overall pick, but we all know how much can change in just a few weeks.

1. Matthew Stafford, QB — I believe the Lions will pull the trigger on Stafford. I mean, they have nobody at the position they could call a franchise guy, so why not pull the trigger on a potential franchise player.

1b. Vontae Davis, CB — If the Lions do add a player like Channing Crowder in free agency, then this pick should be a cornerback. The Lions' defense was the worst last season and they all the help they can get.

2. Duke Robinson, OG — Scott Linehan had said that there are some building blocks on the offensive line and Jeff Backus was one of the names he mentioned along with Gosder Cherilus and Dominic Raiola. I believe Duke is the best fit for the Lions at this pick.

3. Terrance Taylor, NT — This guy is a brick wall. He isn't mentioned among the elite prospects in this draft for one reason and that's his team had a down year. Our run defense was dead last at the end of the season and Taylor would help with that.

3b. Sherrod Martin, CB/S — This pick kills two birds with one stone, as Martin can play either corner or safety.

5. Jon Cooper, C — This Kid is very talented, and with Raiola getting older and his best days looking to be behind him, we need someone to sit and eventually be his replacement.

6. Johnny Williams, LB — With Jordon Dizon moving to the outside, chances are he could succeed or maybe he won't. Well, an insurance policy is needed and also special teams was a concern last season.

6. Jarius Wynn, DE — Cliff Avril's success at the end position was huge for the Lions this past season and they will look to build on that.
