Matthew Stafford: Does He Have The "It" Factor? Should The Lions Take Him?

There are several draft scouts who don't believe Matt Stafford has the "It" Factor.

My Question is What Is The "It" Factor?

Ryan Leaf, did he have the "It" Factor? How about Joey Harrington?

Taking a quarterback is gamble. Some may have that "It" Factor and some may not.

Look at Tom Brady. I guess he did not have the "It" Factor, or he would of been the first overall pick.

Brett Favre, Dan Marino, and Joe Montana, all of those guys are in the Hall of Fame, but not one of them was the first player taken in their draft class.

When you look at Matt Ryan's stats in college, there is no way he should have been drafted with the third overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons.

Now with Stafford coming out, we hear all types of rumors. They say he is inconsistent, but you know what? When you are a good player, you try to make big plays.

Look at Brett Favre. His stats say it all. He was a risk-taker, and people criticize him whenever he throws an interception, but praise him for each touchdown pass he throws.

For his career, Brett Favre threw 469 touchdowns and 310 interceptions. Both are NFL records, and we praise him.

Why?

Because he takes chances that can help his team win.

Matthew Stafford may not be NFL-ready, but neither was Tom Brady, and look how that turned out.

Stafford can be a very good quarterback in the near future. Maybe not as successful as Matt Ryan in his rookie season but the Lions and Falcons are not the same team.

The Lions just came off a record setting season of 0-16.

The Lions will take Stafford and have a potential gunslinger to throw bombs down field to Calvin Johnson for years to come.
