Will Todd Haley's Hiring Encourage Other Cardinals To Follow?

Jordan LanningFeb 7, 2009

As you all should know, the Kansas City Chiefs hired former Arizona Cardinals' offensive coordinator, Todd Haley, as head coach.

With Haley being an offensive-minded coach, everyone would assume that the Chiefs should make some great improvements on that side of the ball.

Haley could bring a couple of Cardinals with him. Two names of note are quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receiver Anquan Boldin.

I doubt the Chiefs will bring in Warner just because of his age. We need a new quarterback but I strongly doubt Warner is the guy.

But, Anquan Boldin could be a terrific addition to the Chiefs. They have Dwayne Bowe, but other than him, we don't have much. Boldin and Bowe could create one of the best wide receiving corps in the NFL.

There will be a lot of teams very interested in Boldin, but the Chiefs could have a slight advantage, with Haley being the coach.

As you all may recall, Haley and Boldin got into an argument on the sidelines at one of the Cardinals' playoff games. I don't think that it was much of anything. It was just two competitive people who had different opinions on situation at hand.

As far as the draft is concerned, I still think, if Matthew Stafford is available, the Chiefs would be stupid not to get him. If Stafford isn't available, then you need to look at Aaron Curry.

The Chiefs could also trade down and accumulate more picks.

One other interesting note is the current positions of Larry Johnson and Tony Gonzalez. Johnson is all but gone, and with Gonzalez getting older, the Chiefs might also deal him away.

If the Chiefs are to trade Gonzalez, it would most likely be a third round draft pick. Johnson will be much harder to trade.

He hasn't played well the past two years, and with his huge salary, most teams don't want to take him on.

This offseason has been very eventful and I expect it to continue this way. The Chiefs have a lot of work to do coming off of a 2-14 season.

Free agency will be vital for the Chiefs this offseason, and if they can sign Albert Haynesworth or Julius Peppers, the Chiefs should be very happy.
