Graduation 'Tebowing' Session Deserves Highest Punishment Imaginable

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Chuck Shriner had his diploma withheld when he decided to "Tebow" at his high school graduation. I submit he got off rather easily.

Naples News reports the 17-year-old decided to drop to one knee while he was receiving his diploma and give his fellow grads a grand Tebowing session to giggle at.

Fort Myers Catholic school principal John Cavell and other faculty and staff didn't think the action was all that funny. They decided to punish him by withholding his diploma and making him clean the gym after the ceremony.

The diploma went straight to Shriner's mother, who held it to discipline her son. I say they didn't do nearly enough to this kid to punish him.

Of course, I don't agree with the school's reasoning behind its punishment. They felt that it may cause other students to act out. To which I say, that's stupid.

Graduation is all about fun and frivolity, and punishing a student for dropping to a knee is as lame as the student who thought the move would be funny.

Before I get too far along, let me say straight out that the school is ridiculous, foolish and beyond silly for finding one student's Tebowing session to be rude.

Because it's not rude. It's lame.

This brings me to the real reason I want this student to either be sent off to a prison or have no choice but to spend the day as Skip Bayless' personal servant.

Tebowing makes me angry.

Let's all let the played-out Tebowing die the slow death for which it is destined.

The act is up there with Craig Sager's suits and Rick Reilly quips on the lame meter.

I will also state that the punishment of not allowing the kid to hold onto his diploma is just as lame. Here are the only viable punishments for such an offense:

  • Having to watch replays of only Tim Tebow for the next five seasons
  • Being forced to read only Jason Whitlock for an entire year
  • 10-to-15 years in a state penitentiary

I am interested to hear what you think is a justifiable punishment for a near-adult who still feels compelled to Tebow as if it were funny.
