Michael Strahan Live with Kelly Rumors: Why Ex-Giant Works on Daytime TV

Could Michael Strahan be the new co-host of Kelly Ripa on Live with Kelly! in the near future?

That depends on which unnamed source you believe. Of course it does.

We start with Hollywood Life:

HollywoodLife.com has spoken to a source close to the production of Live with Kelly! who reveals that former NFL star Michael Strahan is at the top of Kelly’s list! So it’s not surprising that he co-hosted for his ninth time on May 7!

“All bets are on Michael Strahan,” the source says. “He’s funny, does well on camera and gets along really fabulously with Kelly. Michael is the top name that is seriously being thrown around right now.”

But Gossip Cop sees Hollywood's unnamed source and raises it a different, better unnamed source that refutes the rumors:

“There’s no ‘top contender,’” an actual “Live” insider tells Gossip Cop, explaining that “some people are still coming in for their first tryouts, others are still coming back for the second time.”

Adds our impeccable source, the “field’s wide open.”

Oh man, who to believe? If I didn't know any better, I'd say everyone here is just making things up. Or, you know, maybe everybody is sourcing Janitor Joe from the set of the show.

But I digress. The fact remains that if Strahan were to be brought on alongside Ripa, he'd do fine on the show. He's an affable guy who was a good addition to FOX's football coverage, and he would bring a new dynamic to the show.

Plus, he isn't so overbearing that he would take too much of the attention away from Ripa. This is clearly her show, and whomever sits next to her needs to understand that. After years of sitting at a booth with Terry Bradshaw, Strahan knows when to defer and, um, let the magic happen.

Or something like that.

So no, I have no idea what the likelihood or even possibility of Strahan co-hosting with Ripa might be. But if he ends up getting the gig, I could think of far worse choices.
