Russell Wilson Wife: Ashton Wilson Steals Spotlight on Draft Night

The NFL draft typically starts to slow down right around the end of the second round. That's when all the big names are off the board, and the networks start resorting to petty tricks to keep the audience watching.

Right around the time the draft was transitioning from the second round to the third round, ESPN resorted to showing a live feed of former Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson, who was watching the draft from a secure location with friends and family.

It was dramatic footage. It was obvious Wilson was feeling tense, and he was only getting more and more tense as more and more picks went by.

But nobody cared about him. The lovely blonde lady next to him on the couch was far more interesting.

For the record, that lovely blonde lady is Wilson's wife. 

Her name is Ashton Wilson. And yes, she is on Twitter. I had my doubts at first, but this tweet (h/t The Big Lead) contains a picture that's a dead giveaway:

So now we know that Wilson is both a) very, very talented and b) a very, very lucky man. 

There doesn't appear to be any literature out there about Wilson and his wife, which is refreshing. I could dive deep into Ashton's Twitter account looking for juicy information, but I'm not going to do that. Do I look like a creeper to you?

I actually might, but take it from me that I'm not.

At any rate, Ashton Wilson will likely remain a mysterious figure for a little while longer. But not too long. Wilson is a professional football player now, and the better halves of professional football players have a way of ending up in the spotlight sooner or later.

For now, we'll have to be content to know Ashton Wilson as the lovely wife of a very talented athlete, and I suspect we'll forever remember her for smiling a beaming smile when she found out her husband had been drafted.
