NFL Draft Rumors: Last-Second Trade Rumors for 2012 NFL Draft Order
After month's of speculation, the 2012 NFL draft is set to kick off today in Radio City Music Hall.
There have been plenty of rumors circulating over the past week involving many prospects and teams around the league.
What rumors have been hitting the media waves lately? Here are the biggest rumors involving the NFL draft right now. Updates will be provided throughout the day if there are any major reports coming from the 32 teams.
Will the Minnesota Vikings Trade out of the Third Overall Pick?
1 of 7The Minnesota Vikings now hold all of the cards on the day of the NFL draft, as there are multiple scenarios that could play out tonight.
One of them is the possibility of trading out of the third position, which seems to be a very good possibility.
If they set themselves on drafting Matt Kalil, they could seriously take an offer from a handful of teams that are interested in Trent Richardson.
Although, they could keep the third overall selection and take cornerback Morris Claiborne. Either way, the decision that the Vikings make will impact the entire first round.
Has a Bidding War Begun for Trent Richardson?
2 of 7For weeks, it appeared to be a forgone conclusion that Trent Richardson would end up with the Cleveland Browns.
That is no longer the case. Over the past 24 hours, there have been a few rumored trades that could occur during the draft.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have coveted Richardson for quite some time, and could complete a trade with the Vikings to get their man.
The St. Louis Rams could target Richardson due to the report that Steven Jackson wants a new contract.
This could lead to the Rams trading Jackson and drafting his replacement in Richardson.
And there are no such things as rumors unless the New York Jets are involved. Richardson is the top rated player on their draft board, and they have reportedly pondered the idea of trading up 13 spots to land him.
However, it appears less likely that the Jets will make a serious run for Richardson.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Could Select Luke Kuechly Fifth Overall
3 of 7In his final mock draft, Todd McShay predicts that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will select linebacker Luke Kuechly.
This would certainly shake up the top 10, as Kuechly has been speculated to land with either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Seattle Seahawks.
The Buccaneers were very active in free agency, but did not address the linebacker position. They could have decided to fill the weakness in the defense with Kuechly.
The Market Continues to Heat Up for Mark Barron
4 of 7It would be a shocker if Alabama safety Mark Barron isn't selected within the top 10.
Adam Schefter said today on twitter that Barron won't make it to the 14th overall pick of the Dallas Cowboys and has noted the high number of teams interested in him.
The Buffalo Bills are considering the idea of selecting him 10th overall. Meanwhile, the San Diego Chargers could trade up eight spots to select Barron.
It will be interesting to see if this is a ploy with the hope of the Dallas Cowboys giving up a good amount of draft picks to move up and select Barron. Most mock drafts have Barron heading to Dallas.
Consensus Is That the Miami Dolphins Will Select Ryan Tannehill
5 of 7The Miami Dolphins are among the few teams that will consider selecting Ryan Tannehill in the first round. In fact, it seems very likely that the Dolphins will select Tannehill with the eighth overall pick.
Owner Stephen Ross is pushing for the Dolphins to find the quarterback of the future.
Also, Tannehill's former college coach Mike Sherman is now the offensive coordinator with the Dolphins.
It appears very likely that three quarterbacks will be selected within the first eight picks.
Chandler Jones Has High Value Around the League
6 of 7NFL Network analyst and draft guru Mike Mayock created a lot of buzz when saying on air that Chandler Jones will eventually come out as the best defensive player in this draft.
Jones, who appeared to be a late first-round pick in the best scenario, could see his name called early on Thursday night.
Some draft analysts think Jones is likely to be drafted between the 12th and 16th overall picks (Seahawks and Jets are most likely).
However, with the potential that Jones has, we must prepare for a potential draft surprise if Jones is selected within the top 10.
Could the Buffalo Bills Trade Up for Matt Kalil?
7 of 7There are questions regarding the draft value of Matt Kalil right now. Many scouts don't view Kalil as an elite offensive line prospect in comparison to prospects in other drafts.
The Minnesota Vikings could pass on Kalil altogether, leaving the possibility of a team trading up for the USC product.
According to a report, the Buffalo Bills are willing to part with their first two picks to move up and select Kalil.
I was suspecting that the Bills could consider this move even before the report came out, so it's not a surprise.
The Bills could become relevant very quickly with a successful 2012 draft.
