St. Louis Rams: Tuesday's Rams News and Notes at Noon
Welcome to Tuesday's St. Louis Rams "News and Notes at Noon", the one stop source for all major Rams headlines and other related information of relevance to Rams Nation with brief commentary and analysis included.
St. Louis Rams Pre Draft Visitor List and Scouting Reports
All NFL teams are allowed to bring in up to 30 pre-draft visitors to their respective facilities and then may also invite additional talent from local schools.
Thus far, St. Louis has visits scheduled for 17 prospects, according to this terrific piece from Turf Show Times.
The above-linked piece gives a brief synopsis of each of the 17 players as well as links to scouting profiles.
The names on the docket include: Mike Adams (OT), Dwight Bentley (CB), Justin Blackmon (WR), Michael Brockers (DT), Morris Claiborne (CB), Quinton Coples (DE), Fletcher Cox (DT), Michael Floyd (WR), Janoris Jenkins (CB), Mychal Kendricks (LB), Ronald Leary (OG), Kelechi Osemele (OT), Reuben Randle (WR), Trent Richardson (RB), Brian Stahovich (P), Alameda Ta'amu (DT) and Jerel Worthy (DT).
Of the above list, I particularly like Bentley, Blackmon, Cox, Jenkins, Kendricks, Leary, Richardson and Ta'amu.
New St. Louis Rams Mock Draft
Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch shares his first round mock draft in this article. He also posts several other major mock drafts in the aforementioned article.
Other new mocks have Fletcher Cox going to the Rams at No. 6, the big defensive tackle from Mississippi State who many rate as the No. 1 DT prospect in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Pro Football Weekly's Exclusive Draft Value Chart
I highly recommend taking a look at this interesting and informative piece from Pro Football Weekly. This rather unique chart breaks down the 2012 NFL Draft from top to bottom, position by position.
The format is easy to follow and the chart is one that I enjoy referring to personally.
2012 NFL Draft Preview: Wide Receiver
Stlouisrams.com senior writer Nick Wagoner previewed the wide receiver position in a column found here.
Wagoner takes a nice look at the Rams current situation at receiver and gives us his top five wideout prospects available for the taking in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Interestingly, Chris Givens, who the Rams took a look at during his pro day at Wake Forest, ranks higher on Wagoner's list than most, checking in at No. 5.
Wagoner names Appalachian State's Brian Quick as a sleeper. Quick is indeed a big speedy receiver who could be a middle round target for St. Louis later this month.
NFC West Team By Team Offseason Grades
Mike Sando of ESPN and Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. graded each team from the NFC West in this column and offered their dual takes including their choices for best and worst moves for each move from the four teams comprising the division.
The Rams received a very favorable grade from Sando and Williamson, overall, as you can read in the previously-linked piece above.
Best Case Scenario(s) for St. Louis Rams in This Month's Upcoming Draft
In my slideshow posted earlier today I laid out six scenarios that, if realized, would certainly help St. Louis to optimize its' 2012 NFL Draft and set the team up for a very bright future (one that includes two first round picks in both 2013 and 2014.)
It will be interesting to see how many of these scenarios ultimately unfold between April 26 and 28.
What Will Vikings Do at No. 3?
As we all know, what happens at No. 3, 4 and 5 will impact the Rams at No. 6.
That said, I thought it was of interest to Rams Nation to post what Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network feels will occur at No. 3 with the Minnesota Vikings.
There has been much speculation regarding potential trades and so forth at No. 3. Lombardi offers his informed take on the situation in Minnesota and what he believes will occur right after the selections of Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III, two picks that seem inevitable at this time.
As always, thanks for joining me for today's St. Louis Rams "News and Notes at Noon."
Have a great day, STL Rams Nation.
