LSU Football: Morris Claiborne's Wonderlic Score Doesn't Matter

Barrett SalleeJun 1, 2018

It's that time of year when the NFL examines every aspect of a player's physical and mental makeup in order to determine the best way to invest millions of dollars.

The grey matter between the ears of former LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne is no exception.

According to ProFootballTalk.com, Claiborne scored a four out of 50 on his Wonderlic test, which is designed to test learning and problem-solving. These scores are supposed to remain private.

Does it matter? Absolutely not.

Whether Claiborne scores a four, a 50 or somehow scored a 143 he's a stud on the football field—and that's all that matters.

The number six matters—the amount of interceptions Claiborne had last season, one of which went for a touchdown.

The number 12 matters—the number of passes Claiborne defended.

The number one matters—Claiborne was a first-team All-SEC member in 2011.

Claiborne didn't become a unanimous All-American and win the Jim Thorpe Award by accident. He did because he's physically and mentally prepared to play football at a high level, which is exactly what he did while at LSU.

Is he a rocket scientist?

No, but we're not asking him to design the next version of the space shuttle.

We are asking him to play football, and his performance on the field during his LSU career is more than enough proof that he's ready for the next level.
