St. Louis Rams: News and Notes at Noon (Free Agency Day 4)

Shane GrayJun 7, 2018

Welcome to Friday's St. Louis Rams "News and Notes at Noon", the destination for all major Rams updates and other related information available at the same time and place each day.

Free Agency Updates

It looks as if right tackle Eric Winston, who the Rams have targeted, may have trouble getting out of Kansas City without a contract agreement, according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network:

Sounds like the Chiefs are pretty serious about trying to keep Eric Winston in their building..

Is New England pursuing Rams restricted free agent Danny Amendola?  The answer to that is uncertain. However, it certainly look like a possibility, especially after reading this from the Turf Show Times.

St. Louis gave Amendola a second round tender.  Thus, if the Patriots made a contract offer that the Rams did not match, Amendola would be off to New England to catch passes from Tom Brady this season and St. Louis would receive the Patriots second round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Last night, Rams Park was a busy free agent destination, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

"Rams Park literally jammed with free agent visitors: Mario Manningham, Steve Smith, Shaun Hill, Scott Wells, Travelle Wharton."

Of those visiting, Manningham and Smith are wide receivers, Hill is a quarterback, Wells is a center and Wharton is a guard.  The focus of that group was clearly on offense.

For a rundown on the Rams current free agency situation, please see this from Howard Balzer of 101sports.com.

According to Jim Thomas, the Rams also entertained free agent quarterback Brady Quinn:

"

Yes, Denver free agent QB Brady Quinn was at Rams Park yesterday. He threw to Philly free agent WR Steve Smith. Quinn is with Jets today.

"

Finally, for a rundown on the 2012 Free Agency period as it relates to the NFC West, check this from Mike Sando of ESPN.

Stan Kroenke, Tony La Russa and the Los Angeles Dodgers

For the analysis of Alvin Reid of 101sports.com, please take a look at this piece.

Reid asserts that it is ultimately good for St. Louis and Rams fans here if Rams owner Stan Kroenke does not eventually become the owner of the Dodgers.

2012 NFL Draft

With the NFL Draft not less than a month and a half away, I thought it would be a good time to share a mock draft database, like this one from Walter Football.

Finally, my friend Chris Douglas of Missouri State will perform for NFL scouts today at his pro day in Springfield, according to ky3.com

Douglas is the son of former Harlem Globetrotter showman Michael "Memphis" Douglas, who now runs the Michael Douglas Youth Foundation and performs in charity events for the Harlem Legends as well as providing basketball camps for youth, and more.

Douglas had some impressive runs during his Missouri State career and ran for over 1,000 yards in 2010.  Hopefully, Douglas will get a shot to contribute to an NFL team this Fall.

Have a great day, STL Rams nation.
