Dancing with the Stars: Donald Driver and Martina Navratilova to Appear on Show

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

As has become tradition, Dancing with the Stars is dipping into the sports pool for talent. It was announced on Tuesday that Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver and tennis star Martina Navratilova will be on the upcoming season of the hit reality show.

Driver and Navratilova will try to follow in the footsteps of Emmitt Smith, Apolo Anton Ohno and Hines Ward as sports stars to walk away with the crystal ball trophy.

The new season kicks off on March 19.

Unlike last season, which featured Ron Artest and Hope Solo, Driver and Navratilova have a great chance to come out on top.

Part of winning on Dancing with the Stars is about having a name that the predominantly female audience knows and likes. Even though Driver might not resonate with the elderly audience, his history as one of the greatest receivers in Packers history will give him a leg up with the younger viewers.

Navratilova will be the first tennis star, active or retired, to appear on the show. That would seem like a perfect marriage of sport and dancing, because of the poetry and rhythm it takes to play the game.

Granted, Navratilova isn't in the prime of her career anymore. She has remained in great shape and will be able to handle the workload required to go a long way in this contest.

It is going to be an interesting season on Dancing with the Stars. Even if Navratilova and Driver bomb, which probably won't happen, at least we can tune in to see Steve Urkel back on television.
