NFL Combine 2012 Results: Robert Griffin III Locks Up Second Overall Pick
Robert Griffin III blew the doors off the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine, all but guaranteeing that he will be the second overall pick in the upcoming draft.
The Heisman Trophy winner didn't do enough to break up the Colts' love affair with Andrew Luck, but after putting on an amazing athletic performance, there's no way he falls past No. 2 overall.
The St. Louis Rams, who already have Sam Bradford on board, are actively shopping the second pick in the draft. Luckily for them, they'll be able to bring in a big haul after RG3 dominated the competition at the combine.
Griffin III blazed through the 40-yard dash, clocking in at an absurd 4.38 seconds on the stopwatch. His official time was revealed to be a still-blistering 4.41 seconds. That made him the fastest quarterback by far and the seventh fastest prospect overall.
To put his numbers in perspective, Cam Newton ran a 4.58 40 last year before finishing second in the NFL with 14 rushing touchdowns. RG3 also joined Michael Vick as the only quarterbacks to be clocked in the sub-4.4 range.
Will RG3 be the No. 2 pick?
Griffin III's incredible performance didn't end there, however. He also showed off his hops, posting a 39" vertical and 10' broad jump.
RG3's combine was one of the best in recent memory. The athleticism he displayed, combined with his accuracy, mechanics and leadership ability, will have scouts salivating.
Several teams desperately need a quarterback, including Washington, Miami and Seattle. But if they want to add RG3, they're going to have to make a deal with the Rams.
If they don't, someone else will snatch him up.
