Brandon Jacobs: Spoilers for Giants RB's Angle with TNA Wrestling

Adam WellsJun 5, 2018

Now that he no longer has to keep running the ball for the New York Giants for a while, Brandon Jacobs is finding ways to keep busy. His most recent endeavor was a trip to Orlando, Fla. for TNA Impact taping on Monday night.

For those that have not heard, Jacobs' teammate Jason Pierre-Paul was supposed to do the show, but canceled due to post-Super Bowl exhaustion. Jacobs stepped in because he has nothing else going on.

In fact, he will be making multiple television appearances for the company. In an interview with USA Today, it was revealed that Jacobs will be on this week's episode and next week's episode. They taped Thursday's show in it's entirety on Monday and filmed parts of the February 23rd show, as well.

It was originally believed that Jacobs would be doing an angle with Kurt Angle. The writers must have had a change of heart—or someone leaked bad information—because he ended up getting physical with Bully Ray—WWE fans know him as Bubba Ray Dudley.

According to detailed reports from NoDQ.com, Jacobs and Bully Ray get into a shoving match after Ray spits beer in his face. That episode will air this Thursday on Spike TV.

In a separate report, detailing the February 23rd angle, Jacobs comes out to cut a promo about his friend James Storm. Ray comes out to insult him about being the second-string running back and not gaining any yards in the Super Bowl.

Later on in the show, Jacobs was in the corner of Storm and Jeff Hardy, in their match against Kurt Angle and Bully Ray. At the end of the show, the running back gets into the ring and chokeslams Ray through a table.

All told, it sounds like a fun angle that can get TNA some good mainstream publicity. If the company could learn how to book logical angles and start pushing the right wrestlers—really, Garrett Bischoff—they could be on to something.
