Tim Tebow: Broncos' Miracle Man Won't Play In Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Eric BallJun 7, 2018

So it looks like Tim Tebow was playing hurt after all.

A tournament official at the AT&T Pebble Beach National confirmed to ESPN.com that the Denver Broncos QB will not be participating in the Pro-Am event from Feb. 9-12.

The reason? Injury.

In the wake of reports suggesting Tebow was playing hurt in the AFC Divisional round against the New England Patriots, some people refused to believe it.

They thought it was just another excuse for the player that had overtaken the NFL world. But it turns out that he tore cartilage on his rib, bruised his lung and had fluid buildup in his pleural cavity. He is skipping surgery and will be healthy by the time offseason training rolls around, but I think we can understand why he would choose to skip the event.

There isn’t much information on Tebow’s golf skills available to the world, but we all remember the picture that was released this summer that showed him on the links looking more like a professional weightlifter than a football player of golfer.

Obligatory Tebow joke: I bet Tebow hits the water/sand trap on the first 13 holes before connecting on five straight holes-in-one.

While Tebow may have skipped the event, there will still be some NFL star power on hand. New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and QB Tom Brady will be playing just a week after a certain big game. Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo will also be attending according to ESPNDallas.com. Romo is the lucky guy that gets to have Tiger Woods as his playing partner.

So now we know for sure that Tebow played hurt and is not doing any sort of physical activity for a while. It’s too bad because watching Belichick and Brady make fun of the way his team beat Tebow’s by 35 in a playoff game would be must-see TV.

Then again, so is watching Romo and Woods share a golf cart.
