Tim Tebow: The 5 Best Tebowing Moments of 2011-12
Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has been quite the phenomenon this season, and it's sparked its own little cottage industry: Tebowing.
I'm sure by now you're quite familiar with the Tebowing move—you know, taking a knee with helmet in hand to take a moment of silent reflection or prayer.
This NFL-borne replacement to planking has swept the nation almost as fast as Tebowmania, and it seems nearly unstoppable.
Some Tebowing moments are better than others, however.
Here are the five best of 2011 and 2012.
Stephen Tulloch Sacks Tim Tebow, Tebows
1 of 5In the most meta-Tebowing moment of the year, Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch sacked Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow and, to celebrate, Tebowed over the fallen Tebow.
It was clever, appropriate, hilarious and likely something every pass-rusher to face Tebow wishes he could do.
It's also quite possibly my favorite moment of the 2011 regular season, period.
Denver Nuggets Mascot Tebows, Sinks Half-Court Shot
2 of 5The Denver Nuggets mascot, Rocky the Mountain Lion, attempted a few half-court shots at halftime of a game in January, to no avail.
Then he donned a Tim Tebow jersey, took a knee in prayer and sunk a backwards half-court shot in his next attempt.
Indeed, the power of Tebowing extends beyond the football field.
Tebowing Kansas City Chiefs Don't Get Tebowed
3 of 5The Kansas City Chiefs decided to take a page out of Tim Tebow's playbook and assembled to take a knee prior to their Week 17 contest against the Denver Broncos.
Apparently, five men Tebowing is better than one man doing it, even if that man is Tebow himself—the Chiefs went on to win 7-3, and kept Tebow from pulling out a fourth-quarter win, his (other) signature move.
The Tebowing New York Jets Don't out-Tebow Tebow
4 of 5Tim Tebow is known to take a knee in prayer with teammates and opponents alike, and it's likely that as the season wore on that more and more of those opposing players wanted to get in on the pregame huddle, hoping that some of Tebow's magic rubs off on them.
Little did they know, if you Tebow with Tebow, it cancels out the potential benefits of Tebowing.
The Jets lost to Denver, 17-13.
Ben Roethlisberger Is NOT Tebowing
5 of 5Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been caught on camera taking his own quiet, private moment down on one knee a number of times this season, mostly since the Tebowing craze took off.
However, it's something he's been doing for at least a year.
Though Tebow has been Tebowing since college, it's hard to term what Roethlisberger does as actual Tebowing.
How do you know whether someone is Tebowing or simply taking a knee?
It's Tebowing when 10 photographers are surrounding that person. When it's one or fewer, it's just Roethlisberger, alone on his knee.
