Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Despite Robert Griffin III's ascension to the Heisman trophy over the last month or so in the 2011 season, Andrew Luck is still the best quarterback prospect in this year's class—if not the last 10 years. You've heard everything about the Stanford signal-caller, from his tremendous football IQ, to his size, to his accuracy, to his deceptive athleticism.
He's got everything a pro football coach would want from an incoming draftee at the quarterback position, and he can get it done on the field in a traditional way.
As safe a pick as they come.
Period.
Robert Griffin III
This guy represents the new-age, Cam Newton-type, supremely athletic NFL quarterback with limitless potential.
Not that Luck can't develop into the next elite guy behind center, but there's no telling how outstanding RG3 can be.
He's only about 220 pounds and stands 6'2'', but he possesses a cannon arm and has the potential to be Brees-like with his accuracy, especially down field. His scrambling abilities rival Virginia Tech's Michael Vick.
Griffin III finished the season with 45 total touchdowns (nine rushing) with a mere six interceptions and completed more than 72 percent of his throws in a vertical passing system.
Trent Richardson
Running backs aren't held is as high regard now as they were even five years ago, with teams realizing they can get consistent production out of a mid-to-late round selections, but Richardson is a sure-fire first-round pick.
He's the total package when it comes to collegiate running backs entering the NFL. At 5'11'' and a chiseled 225 pounds, the Alabama runner has the size to be an every-down feature back that carries the ball between the tackles with success.
But he also has track-star speed and is elusive enough to break a big run to the outside and shake defenders in the open field.
Ask any Ole Miss defender.
Plus, Richardson is a viable option in the passing game, having caught 50 passes with seven touchdowns over the last two seasons as a member of the Crimson Tide.
The guy is a workout warrior who strives to get better every day with toughness similar to most linebackers.
