2012 NFL Mock Draft: 3 Teams That Need Offensive Line Help Most
Forget all the highlights, huge runs and deep balls down the field.
None of that happens without a sturdy offensive line.
Why is Tom Brady one of the best ever?
Because he's got a great arm, is extremely accurate with the football, can read defenses and, last and most certainly not least, he's always had a great group of five trench men in front of him.
Want to have a chance to get to the Patriots' level of consistent excellence?
You can start by constructing that offensive line.
These three teams need the most help.
St. Louis Rams
1 of 4Just going on pure numbers here and a recent injury.
No team has allowed more sacks than the Rams this season. Their quarterbacks have been taken down a whopping 37 times.
There's not a chance that $78 million dollar man Sam Bradford progresses without protection.
They made Roger Saffold a second-round pick a few years ago, but he was recently placed on IR because of a chest injury.
We all know the left tackle is the most pivotal position on the offensive front.
Everyone wants St. Louis to add more receiving weapons for Bradford, but starting with another tackle or guard would be beneficial, too.
Arizona Cardinals
2 of 4This one's easy.
The Cardinals have surrendered 33 sacks this season and they currently have the 28th-ranked run defense in football.
Think their line needs help?
I do.
They've invested a ton of money in Kevin Kolb ($21.5 million guaranteed) and I don't care how amazing and resilient Larry Fitzgerald is, he can't single-handedly win football games.
Beanie Wells is a capable runner; he just needs a more consistent push from the guys in front of him.
It's common knowledge around the NFL that Levi Brown is one of the worst left tackles in football, and that's the position I feel they need to address right away in the draft.
San Diego Chargers
3 of 4The Chargers are in desperate need of some offensive line help.
We aren't sure if former Pro Bowl guard Kris Dielman will ever play again, and Marcus McNeill is dealing with a neck injury.
Never sure how long those can linger.
Just ask Peyton Manning.
The running game is only averaging four yards a carry this season, and if the Chargers want to limit Philip Rivers' turnovers next season, they'd be intelligent to invest a few draft selections in offensive lineman.
