Kyle Lowry out vs. Trail Blazers with Wrist Injury
Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry will not play Sunday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers because of a wrist injury, per Eric Koreen of The Athletic.
Koreen called Lowry day-to-day and noted "nothing showed up in tests that was significant."
Lowry also missed Friday's win over the Boston Celtics but appeared in 18 minutes of last Sunday's All-Star Game.
Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet said Lowry suffered the injury in Toronto's final contest before the All-Star break but "didn't tell anyone but his wife about the wrist pain" before taking part in the Three-Point Contest and All-Star Game.
He is averaging career highs in points per game (22.8), field-goal percentage (46.3) and three-point percentage (41.7) for a Raptors squad battling for postseason positioning in the Eastern Conference.
The Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards, Raptors and Atlanta Hawks are all within five games of each other in the Nos. 2-5 spots behind the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers. The fact Lowry is day-to-day is welcome news for Toronto because it can ill afford to be without half of the Lowry-DeMar DeRozan one-two punch in that playoff race for too long.
The Raptors will turn toward Cory Joseph at the point guard spot while Lowry is out and continue to rely on DeRozan for offensive punch after he poured in 43 points Friday.
