DK Metcalf's Updated Fantasy Outlook as Aaron Rodgers Hypes WR After Steelers' Win vs. Falcons

Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf didn't seem to be on the same page during the Pittsburgh Steelers' 20-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, as the veteran wideout was targeted 10 times but only finished with four receptions for 40 yards.

While the production ultimately was disappointing, expect the high target share to continue.

"Love my guys, love DK," Rodgers told reporters (5:05 mark) after the win. "You know he's had such a great camp, I'm gonna keep going to him. Give him as many opportunities as possible."

Metcalf easily finished with the most targets on the team and was well ahead of Michael Pittman Jr. (three targets) in that regard, though Pittman turned his look into three receptions for 58 yards.

From a fantasy perspective, that usage is a good sign. From an overall production standpoint, however, it's a concerning trend. Last season Metcalf also led the team in targets (99) but his 59 catches for 850 yards and six touchdowns across 15 games wasn't elite production. His 12.9 fantasy points per game in PPR leagues was tied for 20th in the NFL, making him more of a flex consideration.

Thus far in 2026, it seems like he's trending in that direction again, though we're obviously just one week in. If you drafted him to be a WR2, maybe temper those expectations.
