TripleMania Night One took place on Friday and featured some big moments, including Roxanne Perez winning a future shot at the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, but Sunday was time for Night Two.

Here's a look at the card from Sunday's event in Mexico City:

  • Rey Fenix vs. Jack Cartwheel vs. Mini Vikingo vs. Nathan Frazer (AAA Cruiserweight Championship)
  • Flammer vs. La Catalina (Reina De Reinas Championship)
  • 15-man Copa Bardahl
  • The War Raiders vs. TBD (AAA Tag Titles)
  • El Carnicero vs. Psycho Clown (Mexican Street Fight)
  • Dominik Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano (AAA Mega Championship)

Let's take a look at what went down on Night Two of TripleMania.

Copa Bardahl

1 of 7

Night Two of TripleMania 34 opened with a video package highlighting Lucha Libre's importance to Mexican culture and some of the action from Night One.

The first match of the night was the Copa Bardahl, which is similar to a Battle Royal. It started with two men and more came out at regular intervals. Eliminations could happen by pinfall, submission, or being thrown over the top rope.

Mr. Iguana got a great reception when he came out first, which was immediately followed by boos for Abismo Negro. The crowd was loud and chanting throughout the match, and JBL and Corey Graves commented on their energy more than once.

Matches like this are a great way to get a lot of popular people on a card, and for anyone new to AAA, this bout in particular helped introduce a lot of people who have not been featured on WWE television.

There were a total of 15 competitors in this match. El Fiscal scored the first elimination, but he was eliminated almost immediately afterward. Omos ended up eliminating the most people once he was involved.

Battle Royals are always a fun change of pace, and this one was no exception. Every single entrant had at least one standout moment, but the ones who stayed in longer, like Mr. Iguana or Sagrada, obviously stood out more than others who spent less time in the match.

Omos emerged as the victor after throwing out Nino Hamburguesa for the win.

Result:ย Omos won

Grade:ย B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • One of the Spanish announcers was having mic issues during his intro.
  • Abismo and Histeria had a cool look to them. Abismo's mask is unique compared to a lot of luchadores.
  • Mr. Iguana hit a nice headscissor takedown with multiple rotations.
  • The fact that Mascarita Sagrada has been performing at this high of a level for as long as he has been is so impressive.
  • It's always hard to judge, but it sounded like La Parka got the biggest pop for his entrance.
  • Hamburgeusa's release only lasted about six months.

Flammer vs. La Catalina

2 of 7

The Reina De Reinas Championship was on the line when Flammer defended the belt against La Catalina.

Both of these women are 26 years old, so in some ways, this was also a potential showcase for the future of the AAA women's division. Both women have several years of experience, but the announcers tried to position Flammer as the more experienced of the two.

From the first lockup, you could tell both of them were looking to make this a very physical fight. They were not trying to be smooth. They were trying to be as aggressive as possible.

While this match had a few moments that didn't quite land, it had far more good than bad in it, especially toward the end when both women were hitting some of their bigger spots.

Catalina pulled off the upset when she hit a huge running knee to get the pin and win the Reina De Reinas title.

Result:ย La Cataline defeated Flammer to win the Reina De Reinas Championship

Grade:ย B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Flammer's gear looked great. Whoever designed it did a great job.
  • The ref had to get between them at one point because both women tried to choke each other.
  • Flammer's double chicken wing submission looked great.
  • Catalina's spear was very different than most, but in a good way. She kept her arm wrapped around Flammer as she brought her down, almost like a clothesline to the lower body.
  • The running dropkick Flammer hit to knock Catalina out of the ring was brutal.

El Carnicero vs. Psycho Clown

3 of 7

For several weeks, El Carnicero has been terrorizing Psycho Clown, so this Street Fight was meant to settle their feud once and for all.

The fact that a guy named Psycho Clown was the less psychotic of the two men in this match made for a fun dynamic right out of the gate. This was two men with a few screws loose who were looking to cause as much damage as possible, and the crowd was hot for it.

As with any Street Fight, this was all about the chaos and mayhem. They weren't going for wristlocks or trying to put on a technical clinic. They were trying to find whatever weapons they could use against each other.

This bout wasn't pretty, but it was pretty entertaining. Some fans might be disappointed by the lack of blood in a match with this kind of stipulation, but they did a great job making it feel violent without it.

Pagano showed up and looked like he was going to help Psycho Clown, but he ended up allowing Carnicero to hit him with a toolbox to get the win. He sat back and laughed as he watched his former tag team partner get beaten with a kendo stick after the finish.

Result:ย El Carnicero defeated Psycho Clown

Grade:ย B+

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Carnicero gives off Abyss vibes during the early days of his TNA run. He has a good look and uses his size well.
  • The way Psycho Clown used the chair to hit a low blow was creative.
  • The way Carnicero kicked the trash can into Clown's face did not look fun.

Rey Fenix vs. Nathan Frazer vs. Mini Vikingo vs. Jack Cartwheel

4 of 7

The Cruiserweight Championship was on the line in a Fatal 4-Way featuring Rey Fenix defending against Nathan Frazer, Mini Vikingo and Jack Cartwheel.

For a lot of fans, this was the most anticipated match of the night. It had four of the most versatile high-flyers in WWE and AAA going at it, so no matter who won, we knew we were in for a lot of fun moments.

The Mexico City crowd was hyped for this match and started chanting before anyone even made contact. But once they did get going, they were immediately going 100 mph and never slowed down.

So much happened in this bout that it would take way too long to mention every cool spot, but if you want to see the best AAA has to offer, this is the bout for you. It was an excellent showing from four guys who are all at different points in their respective careers.

All four men came close to getting the win at different times, but Fenix was able to retain by pinning Mini Vikingo. This could end up being a Match of the Year candidate. It was that good.

Result:ย Fenix defeated Frazer, Cartwheel and Mini Vikingo

Grade:ย A

Notable Moments and Observations

  • It's awesome that Cartwheel is working for WWE/AAA. He is such an enjoyable performer to watch.
  • It would be cool if we got to see Vikingo and Mini Vikingo as a tag team in WWE someday.

The War Raiders vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno

5 of 7

Erik and Ivar held an open challenge for their AAA tag titles in the penultimate match of the night, and the team to answer the challenge was Dr. Wagner Jr. and his brother, Galeno.

These are four big, powerful guys, so they immediately started throwing strikes as soon as the bell rang. There was no traditional lockup or buildup to the action. They just went for it.

This was a solid match between two good teams, but the placement on the card was the most important part. Putting this between the Cruiserweight and Mega Championship bouts allowed the crowd to get a nice variety of different styles in the back half of the show.

Galeno and Wagner pulled off what some would consider an upset to win the tag titles.

Result:ย Galeno and Dr. Wagner Jr. defeated The War Raiders

Grade:ย B

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Galeno and Wagner got a nice reaction when they were revealed as the challengers.
  • Seeing a guy the size of Ivar do a moonsault is always entertaining.

Dominik Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano

6 of 7

The main event of TripleMania 34 saw Dom Mysterio put the Mega Championship on the line against one of the hottest stars in AAA today, El Grande Americano.

It's kind of wild to think about where the Americano gimmick started and what it has turned into over the past year. Ludwig Kaiser deserves so much credit for taking it seriously and making it into something people love, when it could have been a joke gimmick that was over in a few months.

From the moment his music started, the crowd was going nuts for Americano. He took control as soon as the ref called for the bell by hitting a running dropkick to send Dirty Dom into the corner.

Americano has had a great run in AAA, and Dom has stepped out of his dad's shadow and become his own wrestler over the past year, so both of these guys felt like they belonged in this main event, and they were clearly taking this opportunity very seriously, judging from how focused both men appeared.

When JD McDonagh showed up to help Dom, Rayo and Bravo Americano came out to drive him away. When Omos showed up, it felt like Americano might be outmatched, but a steel chair was the equalizer.

Both men did a fantastic job in this match, and they had the crowd hanging on every move. Liv Morgan tripped Americano off the top rope, which allowed Dom to hit the 619, but he didn't get the pin with it.

Rey Mysterio came out to replace the ref who was taken out, and he counted the pin to make Americano the new champion.

Result:ย Americano defeated Mysterio to win the Mega Championship

Grade:ย A-

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Dom told Omos to stay backstage during a segment earlier in the show. He claimed he wanted to win on his own. That obviously didn't happen.
  • A lot of people wore white gear on this show. It was a nice contrast from all of the black gear we usually get in WWE.
  • This match was made into a No DQ bout earlier in the show, so Dom was well within his rights to use a belt as a weapon.

The Final Word

7 of 7

You never quite know what you're in for when you watch an event from AAA, but TripleMania 34 delivered in a big way.

Every single match ranged from good to great, and it felt like they all got as much time as they needed without anyone rushing or feeling underused.

The main event and the celebration that followed with Americano being serenaded by a mariachi band and the entire crowd were lots of fun, but one bout stood out above the rest.

Fenix, Frazer, Mini Vikingo and Cartwheel absolutely stole the show with an incredible performance. All four guys looked amazing, and if you only see one thing from this show, make it that match.

If this was your first AAA show, it likely made you want to see more from this talented roster.
