NFL Picks Week 6: Dallas Cowboys vs. Patriots and More Upsets on Horizon

Justin WeltonOct 16, 2011

Week 6 of the NFL will arrive in a matter of minutes. Here are some upsets that will happen on Sunday.

Buffalo Bills at New York Giants

Buffalo needs to continue its winning ways to stay afloat in the AFC East. The Bills play a scary Giants team on the road.

I say scary because of Eli Manning. He is one of the most unpredictable players in the league. He throws a ton of interceptions, makes horrible reads and struggles with consistency. Yet, the former Super Bowl MVP has all the tools to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFC.

Seattle Seahawks went to New York and beat the Giants by 11 points in Week 5. West coast teams never win 1 p.m. games, right?

Wrong.

The Seahawks went to New York and forced five Giants turnovers.

Buffalo has created 17 turnovers on defense. It even induced Tom Brady into throwing four interceptions in one game this season.

We will either see Manning throw three interceptions or three touchdowns and no picks. Buffalo is the more complete team at this point, but Manning should put a scare into the Bills defense.

If the Eagles fall to 1-5, the season is over. With a road test at Washington, Michael Vick and the Eagles will need to come up big if they want their season to still have playoff aspirations.

If the Eagles were to get back on track against a NFC East rival, it would be against Washington.

Washington has been a team, in the past few seasons, that has started well, especially in 2008. They are known for not being able to stay consistent.

Rex Grossman wants to fulfill his statement about the Redskins winning the NFC East. He would be one step closer to making that come true if he were to push his Redskins to a 4-1 start.

Dallas travels to New England to play the Patriots. The Cowboys have won five of six games coming off a bye since 2005.

It is going to be tough for the Cowboys to slow down Tom Brady and the Patriots offense. Brady leads the league in passing with 367 yards per game. The rushing attack isn’t too far behind those numbers either. It is sixth in the league with 129 yards rushing per game.

Rob Ryan has changed the attitude and persona of the Cowboys defense. It leads the league in rush defense and is 14th in the league in pass defense.

If we have seen a trend in how to beat Brady, it has been to get pressure on the quarterback. The Cowboys have 13 sacks on the season, and one of the best sack artists in the game—DeMarcus Ware. He has five sacks in 2011.
