NFL Power Rankings Week 2: Ranking the Packers and All 32 NFL Teams After Week 1

Patrick ClarkeSep 13, 2011

Week 1 of the 2011 NFL season is in the books, and before we kick off the encore in Week 2, let us take a look at where all 32 teams stand after opening weekend.

Aaron Rodgers and the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers gave cheeseheads everywhere something to cheer about on Thursday night when they outlasted Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in a defense-less shootout, but is that enough to keep them at No. 1?

The Baltimore Ravens dismantled the defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers, forcing seven turnovers in the process, but does that catapult them to the top?

You've got questions, and Bleacher Report's NFL Power Rankings have the answers.

32. Kansas City Chiefs (0-1)

1 of 32

The Chiefs had no answer for the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, losing in front of their home crowd 41-7 to the usually little-respected AFC North punching bag.

The home loss was Kansas City's worst in more than three decades.

31. Indianapolis Colts (0-1)

2 of 32

Kerry Collins was running for his life all day long, and the Colts looked in desperate need of No. 18 at quarterback, although I'm not sure even Peyton Manning could save Indianapolis from what ailed it in Week 1.

30. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1)

3 of 32

Ben Roethlisberger looked like a scared rookie on Sunday, being careless with the football and giving the Steelers little chance in their 28-point blowout loss at Baltimore.

Pittsburgh has history and its reputation on its side, but Week 1's performance will be tough to shake.

29. Tennessee Titans (0-1)

4 of 32

The Tennessee Titans lost to the Luke McCown-led Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, destroying any chance of a hot start by the under-the-radar squad.

Sure there were worse performances in Week 1, but Tennessee's loss only confirms our suspicions.

28. Seattle Seahawks (0-1)

5 of 32

Tarvaris Jackson's second half heroics couldn't help Seattle get over the hump in San Francisco, and the Seahawks fell 33-17 to the division rival 49ers.

Seattle's special teams looked amateur in the fourth quarter Sunday, giving up two return touchdowns from San Francisco's Ted Ginn Jr.

27. Minnesota Vikings (0-1)

6 of 32

Donovan McNabb threw for 39 yards in his Vikings' debut and San Diego shut out Minnesota in the second half Sunday afternoon.

Brett Favre is gone but the problems remain at quarterback for the Vikings in 2011.

26. St. Louis Rams (0-1)

7 of 32

The Rams and their fans watched as key player after key player was sidelined by injury in Sunday's home loss to the Eagles.

Quarterback Sam Bradford, running back Steven Jackson and wide receiver Danny Amendola all suffered injuries in St. Louis' 31-13 loss.

25. Denver Broncos (0-1)

8 of 32

The Broncos gave up one too many big runs from Oakland's Darren McFadden.

He rushed for over 100 yards for the third consecutive time against Denver.

The Broncos failed to produce for far too long on the offensive end Monday night, falling to the Raiders by three points at home.

24. Cleveland Browns (0-1)

9 of 32

Colt McCoy and the Cleveland Browns showed up for the second quarter of Week 1's 10-point loss to the Bengals, but couldn't do enough in the second half and squandered a golden opportunity to snag a division win at home.

23. Miami Dolphins (0-1)

10 of 32

The Dolphins came out swinging Monday night in South Beach, but Tom Brady and the Patriots landed the knockout punch in the form of 517 yards and four touchdowns through the Miami sky.

Quarterback Chad Henne was a bright spot for Miami though, the fan not-so-favorite passed for 416 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

22. New York Giants (0-1)

11 of 32

Eli Manning and the Giants' offense failed to produce any points in the second half of New York's loss to NFC East enemy Washington in Week 1.

Manning's pick-six gave the Redskins a touchdown lead in the third quarter, breaking the 14-14 tie and the Giants' spirits.

21. Atlanta Falcons (0-1)

12 of 32

Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons have been outscored 78-33 in their past two meaningful football games, including a 30-12 blowout loss at Soldier Field in Week 1.

Ryan's embarrassing fumble highlighted a dominant Sunday afternoon by the defending NFC North champion Chicago Bears.

20. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0)

13 of 32

Surprise opening day starter, Luke McCown performed admirably for the Jags in Week 1, but it was running back Maurice Jones-Drew who was the difference for Jacksonville in its two-point win over AFC South foe Tennessee.

19. San Francisco 49ers (1-0)

14 of 32

Ted Ginn Jr. exploded for two return touchdowns in the fourth quarter of San Francisco's home opener against the Seahawks in Week 1, helping the Niners pull away from their division rival and 2010 postseason crasher Seattle.

18. Cincinnati Bengals (1-0)

15 of 32

A monster day from Bengals running back Cedric Benson helped Cincinnati to a come-from-behind win over division rival Cleveland on the road in Week 1, the Bengals outscored the Browns 14-0 in the fourth quarter, winning 27-17.

17. Carolina Panthers (0-1)

16 of 32

Cam Newton tied a rookie passing record with 422 yards through the air in his NFL debut Sunday, but his Panthers fell short at the goal line, losing in the desert by a touchdown.

16. Dallas Cowboys (0-1)

17 of 32

The Cowboys played well enough to win for three and half quarters on Sunday night against the Jets.

However, they failed to finish and soon found themselves in the same situation as a season ago, after suffering a devastating opening night loss to the Washington Redskins in 2010.

15. Arizona Cardinals (1-0)

18 of 32

A magnificent punt return touchdown from rookie defensive back Patrick Peterson broke the 21-21 deadlock between the Cardinals and Panthers on Sunday, and catapulted the Cardinals to a 1-0 start in 2011, albeit against the league's worst team in 2010.

14. Oakland Raiders (1-0)

19 of 32

Sebastian Janokowski's record-tying 63-yard field goal was the difference for Oakland on Monday night in Denver, beating the AFC West rival Broncos 23-20.

The win was the Raiders first in a season opening game in eight seasons.

13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1)

20 of 32

The Bucs took a punch in the mouth from the Lions in Week 1, falling at home in what was an uphill battle for the final three quarters after a solid first period of play.

12. Buffalo Bills (1-0)

21 of 32

The Bills came out of nowhere in Week 1, dismantling the Kansas City Chiefs on the road by 34 points. Buffalo overachieved in Week 1 but sustaining such momentum will be the true test.

11. Washington Redskins (1-0)

22 of 32

The Redskins kept the momentum of an impressive preseason rolling in Week 1 of the regular season when they doubled up the New York Giants at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.

Washington earned a much-needed early-season division win in the process.

10. Detroit Lions (1-0)

23 of 32

Matthew Stafford and the up-and-coming Detroit Lions kicked off 2011 in style, beating a quality Tampa Bay Buccaneers team on the road in Week 1, 27-20.

9. New York Jets (1-0)

24 of 32

Jets fans can thank the heavens and Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo for their undefeated start to 2011. The veteran signal caller made critical mistakes in the fourth quarter which kept New York alive.

Still, give the guys in green credit for capitalizing on the Dallas miscues.

8. San Diego Chargers (1-0)

25 of 32

Like St. Louis, the Chargers suffered their own fair share of injuries in Week 1, but still managed to outlast the Minnesota Vikings by a touchdown, nothing special from the Bolts but a win nonetheless.

7. New Orleans Saints (0-1)

26 of 32

Despite giving up 42 points on opening night to the Packers, the Saints were a yard away from potentially forcing overtime on the road at the defending Super Bowl champions.

Brees is still a prolific passer and the Saints have a plethora of weapons on the offensive side of the ball.

6. Houston Texans (1-0)

27 of 32

The Texans defeated division rival Indianapolis for just the third time in franchise history on Sunday, doing so in blowout fashion.

With Peyton Manning out for who knows how long, Houston is poised to finally take over the AFC South in 2011.

5. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)

28 of 32

The Eagles gained separation from the Rams in the second half on Sunday, and got the win everyone expected, but the offensive line still seems problematic and Philly's best football has likely yet to be played.

4. New England Patriots (1-0)

29 of 32

Tom Brady passed his way to a historic night on Monday Night Football against division rival Miami, throwing for 517 yards and four touchdowns while leading the Pats to a two-touchdown win.

3. Chicago Bears (1-0)

30 of 32

The Bears' defense was on top of its game Sunday afternoon, making the Falcons pay for every mistake and routing the 2010 NFC South champions 30-12, behind Brian Urlacher's stellar defensive performance.

2. Green Bay Packers (1-0)

31 of 32

Greg Jennings and the Packers shined on the offensive end on opening night at Lambeau Field, even though the Green Bay defense struggled to contain Drew Brees and the Saints' passing game.

The Packers are undefeated though, and are still the champs.

1. Baltimore Ravens (1-0)

32 of 32

The Baltimore Ravens exercised some major demons on Sunday when they stomped all over AFC North rival Pittsburgh.

Ray Lewis and the Ravens' defense turned the Steelers over seven times and knocked Ben Roethlisberger into the ground on several occasions, squashing any chance of a second-half collapse like the one they suffered in last January's AFC divisional playoff.
