Isaiah Thomas Calls NBA All-Defensive Team Snubs of Celtics Teammates 'A Joke'

Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas didn't take kindly to his teammates Avery Bradley, Marcus Smart and Jae Crowder being left off the All-NBA Defensive Teams announced Monday, calling the voting "a joke" on Twitter.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert, San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul and Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley comprised the NBA All-Defensive First Team, per NBA.com.

Tony Allen of the Memphis Grizzlies, Danny Green of the Spurs, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans, Andre Roberson of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks made the All-Defensive Second Team.

Bradley received the most points (46) among players who didn't make the All-NBA team, captured 12 first-team votes and even finished 10th in the voting overall. But because he finished fifth among guards in the voting, he didn't make an All-Defensive team.

Injuries limited Bradley to 55 games this past season, a potential factor among voters. Still, he has established himself as one of the league's best perimeter defenders and two-way players.

Thomas wasn't the only player surprised by Bradley's perceived snub as multiple players spoke out: 

Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall didn't explicitly mention Bradley but hinted at dissatisfaction with the voting:

Smart, meanwhile, received 21 total points and five first-team votes, while Crowder earned five points with the voters. Surprisingly, Thomas also received a single point in the voting. While the diminutive guard made a huge impact on the offensive side of the ball, averaging 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game, the Celtics regularly had to hide him on the defensive end, making his appearance in the vote tally questionable at best.
