San Francisco 49ers Mock Draft: B/R Community Top 100 and 7-Round Results
NFL mocks abound in the weeks leading up to the 2015 NFL draft. Many point out the specific needs of individual teams or are done by one individual breaking down each team's targets from his or her perspective.
But the reality is that 32 teams with different needs and different general managers will be making selections—all of which can throw off such speculation or prediction that has been made by pundits everywhere.
As such, Bleacher Report's team of 2015 NFL draft correspondents combined to hold a 100-pick mock draft that would give an accurate picture into just how the first three rounds of this year's draft could go. Each correspondent gave a pick in Rounds 1 through 3 paying close attention to the team's needs.
Draft-day trades were not a part of the draft, so each team was to draft at the specified spot in each round.
The San Francisco 49ers hold the No. 15 overall pick in the draft and nine picks in total. This does give general manager Trent Baalke some flexibility to address the various needs the 49ers have this offseason. Yet one cannot overstate the need for Baalke and Co. to strike gold with some impact players when April 30 rolls around.
So who did the 49ers wind up grabbing in the community draft? Which players would be ideal, and likely, fits in Rounds 4 through 7?

| 32 | Patriots | Melvin Gordon | RB | Wisconsin |
The 49ers are in need of a cornerback after the free-agent departures of Chris Culliver and Perrish Cox this offseason.
San Francicso does have a returning crop, including young defensive backs like Jimmie Ward, Dontae Johnson, Kenneth Acker and Keith Reaser, but added first-round help would only solidify a replacement for the offseason losses.
Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes is one such player who could fall to San Francisco at No. 15. The 6'0", 186-pound prospect was still available after fellow top corner Marcus Peters went at No. 11 to the Minnesota Vikings.
Waynes is capable of "working on an island" per Dane Brugler of CBS Sports. And Waynes falling to the 49ers is possible according to CBS Sports' Will Brinson, who slated him to San Francisco in his most recent mock.
Round 2: Defensive End Preston Smith, Mississippi State
2 of 9| Pick | Team | Player | Position | School |
| 33 | Titans | Jalen Collins | CB | LSU |
| 34 | Buccaneers | Ty Sambrailo | OL | Colorado State |
| 35 | Raiders | Nelson Agholor | WR | USC |

| 59 | Broncos | Grady Jarrett | DT | Clemson |
| 60 | Cowboys | TJ Yeldon | RB | Alabama |
| 61 | Colts | Paul Dawson | LB | TCU |
| 62 | Packers | P.J. Williams | CB | Florida State |
| 63 | Seahawks | Carl Davis | DL | Iowa |
| 64 | Patriots | Tre Jackson | OG | Florida State |
An outside, long-shot hope would have led to Oklahoma wideout Dorial Green-Beckham falling deep into Round 2. But he didn't.
Instead of finding another wideout to add to the 49ers' crop of receivers, San Francisco's second selection was spent on Mississippi State defensive end Preston Smith.
Smith posted nine sacks and 15 tackles for a loss in 2014 and would help solve some depth issues along the 49ers' defensive front that could soon be without the services of veteran defensive end Justin Smith.
CBS Sports ranked the 6'5", 271-pound Preston Smith as the 43rd overall prospect available in the draft and as a second-round target. Given the 49ers' needs up front, Smith fit right into this spot and could emerge as a possible heir apparent to Justin Smith.
And the 46th overall pick does give San Francisco some value here.
"Preston Smith is a guy who could and should go a lot higher than people think. Has a very bright NFL future and is incredibly versatile.

Round 3: Inside Linebacker Denzel Perryman,
3 of 9| Pick | Team | Player | Position | School |
| 65 | Buccaneers | Rashad Greene | WR | Florida State |
| 66 | Titans | Cedric Ogbuehi | OT | Texas A&M |
| 67 | Jaguars | Jeremy Langford | RB | Michigan State |
| 68 | Raiders | Ali Marpet | OG | Hobart College |
| 69 | Redskins | Danielle Hunter | DE | LSU |
| 70 | Jets | Tre McBride | WR | William & Mary |
| 71 | Bears | Jaquiski Tartt | S | Samford |
| 72 | Rams | Sammie Coates | WR | Auburn |
| 73 | Falcons | Mitch Morse | OG | Missouri |
| 74 | Giants | Rob Havenstein | OT | Wisconsin |
| 75 | Saints | D'Joun Smith | CB | Florida Atlantic |
| 76 | Vikings | Shaq Thompson | OLB | Washington |

| 82 | Texans | Doran Grant | CB | Ohio State |
| 83 | Chargers | Hau'oli Kikaha | OLB | Washington |
| 84 | Eagles | Quinten Rollins | CB | Miami (OH) |
| 85 | Bengals | Za'Darius Smith | DE | Kentucky |
| 86 | Cardinals | David Cobb | RB | Minnesota |
| 87 | Steelers | Jeff Heuerman | TE | Ohio State |
| 88 | Lions | Josh Shaw | CB | USC |
| 89 | Panthers | Michael Bennett | DT | Ohio State |
| 90 | Ravens | Derron Smith | SS | Fresno State |
| 91 | Cowboys | Trey Flowers | DE | Arkansas |
| 92 | Broncos | Henry Anderson | DE | Stanford |
| 93 | Colts | Mike Davis | RB | South Carolina |
| 94 | Packers | Brett Hundley | QB | UCLA |
| 95 | Seahawks | Alex Carter | CB | Stanford |
| 96 | Patriots | Kenny Bell | WR | Nebraska |
| 97 | Patriots | Ifo Ekpre-Olomu | CB | Oregon |
| 98 | Chiefs | Senquez Golson | CB | Ole Miss |
| 99 | Bengals | Steven Nelson | CB | Oregon State |
| *100 | Titans | Nick O'Leary | TE | Florida State |
The retirements of linebackers Patrick Willis and Chris Borland this offseason has opened up a large void within the 49ers' front seven. Veterans NaVorro Bowman and Michael Wilhoite should help plug the gap, but San Francisco could use another impact player here.
Miami linebacker Denzel Perryman was there for the taking at No. 79 and made an excellent value pick considering CBS Sports' Rob Rang ranked him as the 61st overall prospect in the draft.
At 5'11", Perryman might not have the ideal height for an inside linebacker. But his 236-pound frame and strong hands are attributes that general manager Trent Baalke likes.
And this tweet should provide enough to suggest Perryman can make some impact plays at the next level.
"Denzel Perryman body slams Wake Forest player into the ground! reason # 1 that the @49ers should draft him https://t.co/uo7sqUPpUE
— Bryant (@Bryant__Aguilar) March 22, 2015"
Perryman had 110 total tackles in his final year at Miami, which suggests he could emerge as the tackling machine that can replace Borland and help out the tandem of Bowman and Wilhoite.
Round 4: Wide Receiver Chris Conley, Georgia
4 of 9Bleacher Report's team of draft correspondents has made its picks, which leaves the remaining selections up to speculation and debate.
The first three picks have yet to address any offensive needs. One of those is the wide receiver position.
Veteran wideout Anquan Boldin enters a contract year this season, and the 49ers may be looking for a long-term replacement to complement the newly acquired Torrey Smith.
One fourth-round target is Georgia wide receiver Chris Conley.
Per Dane Brugler of CBS Sports, Conley has "lightning quickness with effortless acceleration" and hits "top speed in a blink." These attributes helped Conley average 18.3 yards per reception in his final collegiate year. The speed is another likable attribute that San Francisco could use.
While he may lack the ideal size and bulk per his CBS profile (6'2", 213 pounds), Conley could provide a different dimension for the 49ers offense and reinforce a receiving corps that has some questions beyond 2015.
Round 4 (Compensatory): Offensive Guard Josue Matias
5 of 9
The 49ers have two compensatory picks in 2015, and the first one falls in Round 4 per Tyler Emerick of 49ers.com.
San Francisco's offensive line is a concern heading into the draft especially after losing left guard Mike Iupati to free agency. But it isn't as big of an issue given the 49ers will have center Daniel Kilgore returning to his old position after missing much of last year with an injury.
This places O-linemen Marcus Martin and Brandon Thomas—who was redshirted last season—into an open competition for the starting left guard job.
But a depth move should include a player like Florida State guard Josue Matias.

— Wayne McGahee III (@WayneMcGaheeIII) March 31, 2015"
The 6'5", 309-pound lineman has good size for the position. CBS Sports ranks him as a Round 4 selection, which would give the 49ers a shot at landing him with their compensatory pick.
Adding some depth here would help given the injuries that beset San Francisco's O-line last season.
Round 5: Running Back Josh Robinson, Mississippi State
6 of 9On paper, the 49ers appear to have their answers at running back after the franchise's all-time rushing leader Frank Gore departed via free agency this offseason.
Second-year pro Carlos Hyde is poised to take over as the featured back. He'll be supported by backs Kendall Hunter and the newly acquired Reggie Bush.
But both Bush and Hunter have injury concerns, and Bush's age is another factor that could lend to additional questions.
Fortunately, this year's draft class is stocked with excellent running backs. One might figure that general manager Trent Baalke could tap into this pool at some point in the later rounds.
Mississippi State running back Josh Robinson offers a unique skill set that could be had in Round 5 per his draft profile on CBS Sports.
"And Josh Robinson's report, @cesaro23 pic.twitter.com/FWh1Ei92f6
— Ian Wharton (@NFLFilmStudy) April 12, 2015"
Robinson has been tabbed as a "human bowling ball" as illustrated in the video above. His 5'8", 217-pound frame lends to this idea as he rushed for 1,203 yards and 11 touchdowns last season for the Bulldogs.
Offensively, Robinson could give San Francisco's ground game a different look and another weapon in which to pick up short, tough yards.
Round 6: Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs, Maryland
7 of 9If the 49ers aren't entirely hopeful on the selection of wideout Chris Conley in Round 4, general manager Trent Baalke could take another flier on a wideout like Maryland's Stefon Diggs.
CBS Sports has Diggs ranked as a Round 5 prospect, which means that this prospect would have to slip a bit in order for San Francisco to grab him a round later. But late rounds are almost impossible to predict, so it's feasible that Diggs drops a bit.
Diggs' 6'0", 195-pound frame may be a bit small, but he does offer great acceleration and fluidity per Dane Brugler of CBS Sports.
And the 49ers have been linked to Diggs per Ryan Sakamoto of Ninerfans.com.
"Maryland WR Stefon Diggs is scheduled to take a pre-draft visit to #49ers HQ. He is a dual-threat that can help in return game as well.
— Ryan Sakamoto (@SakamotoRyan) March 24, 2015"
The 49ers might not have high hopes on Diggs becoming an everyday player in his rookie season. But he could be a vital investment piece that helps solidify a position with added depth.
Round 7: Cornerback Quandre Diggs, Texas
8 of 9Cornerback was one position that suffered plenty of attrition in 2014. Defensive backs Tramaine Brock, Chris Cook and Jimmie Ward all missed substantial amounts of time during the year due to injury. Rookie backs Kenneth Acker and Keith Reaser also missed the entire regular season.
Adding corner Trae Waynes in Round 1 helps alleviate depth concerns. But San Francisco could still run into this problem, which would be magnified if players like Acker and Reaser don't quite pan out at the NFL level.
At 5'9" and 196 pounds, Texas cornerback Quandre Diggs hardly possesses the ideal size that one would like for a pro cornerback.
But something has to be said for his 11 interceptions and 43 passes defended over his four-year stint with the Longhorns.
And CBS Sports' Dane Brugler remarked that Diggs was "arguably the top defensive back in the [Big 12] conference, which makes the prospect a likable flier candidate in the late rounds.
Round 7 (Compensatory): Offensive Guard Quinton Spain
9 of 9San Francisco's offensive line already has some reinforcements heading into 2015, and it's possible that this unit receives an additional player or two via the draft.
One such talent that could be had as a developmental piece is West Virginia offensive guard Quinton Spain.
Spain has a 6'4", 330-pound frame and is viewed as a Round 7 target per CBS Sports.
According to Dane Brugler of CBS Sports, Spain isn't exactly a player upon which a team would like to build. He has some NFL-worthy talents per Brugler, which makes him a developmental piece that could be worth a flier to round out the 49ers' O-line depth in 2015.
What makes Spain more attractive is his experience at both tackle and guard positions. This adds to his value although Brugler admits that Spain would be better suited at guard.
