Warriors Sign Former Mavs Guard Brandon Williams to Contract, Updated Roster, Salary Cap

The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent guard Brandon Williams to a one-year, $2.6 million contract, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Here's a look at the team's current active roster and salary cap situation.

Per Spotrac, the Warriors had roughly $249.4 million allocated toward the 2026-27 salary cap before landing Williams, which will now put them at about $252 million. They are now below the second apron threshold by about $2.6 million.

Williams, 26, is a 6'1" guard who has played four NBA seasons. He played 24 games (16 starts) with the 2021-22 Portland Trail Blazers but didn't see any NBA action in 2022-23. That year, Williams played for the G League's College Park Skyhawks.

Williams has also suited up for the G League's Westchester Knicks (2021-22) and Osceola Magic (2023).

In Dec. 2023, Williams signed a two-way deal with the Dallas Mavericks. He's played 116 games over three seasons with the Mavs, including 66 in 2023-24 (15 starts).

He averaged 13.0 points, 3.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds over 22.2 minutes per game last season.

Earlier in August, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the Warriors were interested in Williams and forward Georges Niang for their remaining open roster spots.

In the end, Golden State added Williams to the roster as the team hopes to make the playoffs after an injury-plagued 2025-26 season ended one game short of that feat after a loss to the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference play-in tournament.
